Hospital's Christmas tree lights up with first-time sponsor JGL
The 18-foot Rockefeller Plaza-inspired Christmas tree that brightens the lobby of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital every winter was plugged in and lit up on Monday — The JGL Group of Companies sponsored the tree for the first time ever with a $25,000 auction bid at the recent Festival of Trees.
“In past years, Murray GM has sponsored this tree, and we were lucky enough this year to purchase it and have the tree up in the hospital for everyone to see,” said Jeff Jameson.
Memorial Field grandstands come down
After 78 years, the grandstands at Memorial Field were demolished on Monday morning.
The last major renovations to the grandstands were done in the early 2000s. However, the grandstands were closed in 2023 to spectators for safety reasons and a structural assessment was done. Previously, the city said that the demolition would take five to seven days.
Get ready for snowmobile season with SaskSnow
It is officially the time of year when the people of Saskatchewan are getting ready to take part in their favorite winter activities. For a large number of Saskatchewanians that means getting their snowmobiles ready to hit the trails.
We spoke with Leah Switzer, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association, to learn more about safety and best practices for those venturing out for a winter ride.
UPDATE: Highway cleared after semi jackknifes near Pense
Another semi has jackknifed on Highway 1 between Moose Jaw and Regina.
The collision was added to the Highway Hotline just before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with Eastbound lanes showing as closed 1 km East of Pense.
As of 4 p.m., the highway has been cleared and traffic is flowing as normal.
Motorists are asked to reduce their speed in the area, be prepared to stop, and use alternate routes. Updates can be found on the Highway Hotline map here.

RCMP kept busy on Saskatchewan Highways with Tuesday collisions
It was a busy overnight and early morning period for the RCMP on Saskatchewan Highways, with RCMP saying they responded to 14 collisions between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Aside from a jackknifed semi just west of Belle Plaine, there was also a collision involving three vehicles west of Guernsey, a vehicle in the ditch in the Fort Qu’Appelle area, and two collisions involving deer.
Rib Night in support of Wrubleski Family
On November 22, a Rib Night Fundraiser is happening at the Crushed Can Rec Room and Bar in support of Landin Wrubleski and his family.
At age 13, Landin was diagnosed with High-Risk B-cell lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was 7 months in maintenance chemo, when cancer cells were seen again in his monthly bloodwork.
After spending time at JPCH in Saskatoon, Landin will undergo a bone marrow transplant in either Calgary or Winnipeg, which will send him away from home for 3-4 months.

Ottawa seeks project pitches for new mental health fund aimed at youth
Health and Addictions Minister Ya'ara Saks is looking for pitches to help young Canadians who are struggling with their mental health.
The federal government plans to distribute $500 million for projects that help young people struggling to afford private mental health care services.
The funding comes from the five-year Youth Mental Health Fund announced in the spring federal budget to tackle the stress, anxiety and depression young people are facing amid a high cost of living and global uncertainty.

Farmers across Manitoba and the prairies can now access the results of the 2024 Canola Variety Evaluation Trials, a critical resource for making informed seed selection decisions. Spearheaded by the Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA), this program marks the first year of province-specific program following the discontinuation of the Prairie-wide Canola Performance Trials in 2022.
