Sask RCMP WEST arrest 42-year-old Brownlee man wanted on multiple warrants; Over 10 kgs of fentanyl seized

A 42-year-old man from Brownlee, SK, who was wanted on multiple warrants, has been arrested in Edmonton.

In the Summer of 2022, the Saskatchewan RCMP Warrant and Enforcement Team (WEST) launched an investigation into the arrest of Kurt Miller who was wanted on 25 outstanding charges.

20 MJ men battle elements in support of the MJ Transition House

Leading up to the kick-off of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence on Thursday, 20 brave souls slept outside on Wednesday night in a way to bring awareness to the importance of the Moose Jaw Transition House.  

Moose Jaw’s Transition House provides a safe place for women and children fleeing violence.  

Transition House board member, Jared Mathieson was one of the fellas that took part in the awareness event. 

All city waste collection postponed until October 31

The City of Moose Jaw is advising that due to ongoing challenges accessing back lanes, all city waste collection has been postponed until Monday, October 31. 

In a news release, the city says, "Due to the conditions of the back alleys (which account for over 70% of the collection area) and with such extreme restricted access for collection vehicles due to low hanging trees, downed trees/lines and heavy accumulation of snow and ice the city will be delaying collection for all zones until October 31st, 2022."

Crime Stoppers seeking suspect in comic book store theft

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a suspect following a theft at a local comic book store last week. 

In the early morning hours of Sept. 28, the suspect was caught on camera taking off with thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise. 

The suspect appears to have blonde hair. They were wearing a blue hooded shirt, black facial covering and black pants.

Elm tree pruning ban lifted

The annual ban on pruning elm trees in the province has come to an end and residents are encouraged to prune their elm trees starting September 1. 

Each year, provincial regulations prohibit pruning elm trees from April 1 to Aug. 31 to reduce the risk of spreading Dutch Elm Disease (DED). 

Moose Jaw Pride without executive director

The Board of Moose Jaw Pride released a statement on social media that they currently do not have an executive director. 

In a letter posted on their Facebook page Thursday afternoon, the board said that, as of Aug. 3, Taylor Carlson is no longer employed with the organization.  

Carlson has been the executive director at Moose Jaw Pride since September of 2019.
