Hiker dies from 3,000 fall in Banff
A hiker has passed away after losing his footing on a patch of ice and snow, and falling on Mount Temple on Saturday according to the RCMP.
Shortly before noon on July, 9th emergency services responded to call about the an adult male who was with an experienced group of hikers that had slipped and fell from Mount Temple.
With the help of a Parks Canada helicopter, the man was eventually located approximately 3,300 feet from the point where the initial fall occurred.
Unfortunately, the man passed away due to the injuries he sustained.
Another day another pancake breakfast
Kicking off Monday with a bang was the Grande Central Business's complimentary pancake breakfast.
Attendees were given free pancakes, sausages, and a choice of coffee or juice to bring your meal all together.
Once you got all of those things you could make your way over to the shaded seating areas to enjoy you're free breakfast.

Labour Day parade registration is now open
The annual Cochrane Labour Day Parade registration is now open.
The price to enter the parade is $125 for commercial vehicles and business.
This will be the second post-pandemic parade after having a full one last year.
Event Coordinator with the Cochrane & Area Events Society Kailey Mitchell says that the organizers are doing things somewhat differently this year.
A successful return to Canada Day
Cochranites flocked to Mitford Park for the first Canada Day celebration since the end of the pandemic.
At the event their was all kinds of activities, ranging from more adult oriented stuff such as live bands and beer gardens. For kids there was all kinds of games, and activities to do (including the CochraneNow prize wheel). To cap the night off there was a fireworks display.
Thankfully the Weather stayed away for most of the day allowing families to enjoy Canada's birthday under the sun.
Starting the weekend off right with another pancake breakfast
This morning, The Cochrane Animal Clinic held its pancake breakfast.
The breakfast was free, but you could get your dogs' nails clipped by making a donation to the clinic. Throughout the morning there were also demonstrations and tours of the clinic.

Cochrane's string of pancake breakfast's starts at the BGC
Cochrane's run of daily pancake breakfasts coinciding with the return of the Calgary Stampede began today at the Cochrane & Area BGC, with help from the Cochrane Lions.
All it took to get a serving of fresh pancakes and breakfast sausages was a donation to the organization.
Now those of you who were not in attendance are probably wondering how good were the pancakes? How well did the sausage compliment the flap jacks? Or, did the syrup bring the whole package together?

Early July in pre-pandemic Cochrane means two things, the Calgary Stampede and annual pancake breakfasts in and around Cochrane.
With COVID in the rearview mirror the pancake breakfasts are returning better than ever with a total of nine pancake breakfasts popping up in the Cochrane Area over the next two weeks.
Terry Fox Run organizers looking to form committee
Local Terry Fox Run organizers are looking to form a committee to help organize this years running of the Terry Fox Run.
Both members of the committee and volunteers are being asked to step forward, and join the team.
The lone organizer of last years run Lesley Hunt, says that there are a wide range of roles available to be filled including T-shirt sales, looking for sponsors, promoting the run out in the community, and running social media accounts. You can also volunteer to help on the day of the run September 18th.

Canada Day celebrations returned to Cochrane for the first time in over two years.
Thousands of Cochranites marked the occasion by flooding into Mitford Park for the majority of the celebrations.
When attendants arrived they were greeted with food trucks, games (including the CochraneNow prize wheel), live music, and much more.
Luckily the weather stayed away for most of the day, meaning sunshine and good times for families on their holiday day out.
