The men's semifinals are set at the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown at the Swift Current Curling Club.

Matt Dunstone knocked off Brad Gushue with a 7-3 win in their quarterfinal this morning while Brad Jacobs defeated Rylan Kleiter 9-3.

The other quarterfinals had Brent Pierce beating Mike McEwen 6-5 and Kevin Koe picked up a steal of three in the extra end to beat John Epping 6-3.

The semi-finals will have Dunstone facing Jacobs and Pierce taking on Koe this afternoon with the final set for 4:00pm.

The women's event at the Western Showdown is now underway at the Swift Current Curling Club.

This morning, Michelle Englot defeated Sherrilee Orsted 6-5 and will face Kerri Einarson in an A-event game this afternoon.

Also, Kaitlyn Lawes needed just five ends to get past Jolene Campbell 9-2, while Chelsea Carey dropped her opening game 10-7 to Danielle Inglis, and Switzerland's Xenia Schwaller defeated Edmonton's Serena Gray-Withers 7-2.

More women's games are set for today with the men's event starting tomorrow.

Team Canada improved to 4-0 at the World Mixed Curling Championship with a 9-3 victory over Team England in Aberdeen, Scotland on Tuesday afternoon.

Shaun Meachem, Kelly Schafer and Chris and Teejay Haichert from the Swift Current Curling Club gave up a steal of one in the first end, but rebounded with a deuce in the second to take the early lead.

After Andrew Woolston and Team England scored one in the third to tie the game 2-2, Canada picked up three in the fourth end to go up 5-2 at the break.

Sixteen-year-old Chloe Wills of Kyle is in British Columbia this week competing at the Canadian Women’s Amateur Golf Championship for the second year in a row. 

Sixteen-year-old Chloe Wills of Kyle broke a 38-year-old course record at the Elmwood Golf Club in Swift Current on the long weekend.

Chloe carded a three-under 69, which included a seven-under par on the back nine, in the third round of the MJT Golf Saskatchewan Spring Classic on Monday. Her score was the lowest ladies' score posted at Elmwood's par 72 layout and broke the old ladies' course record set by Marg Corrins in 1986.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are Western Hockey League champions for the first time in the team’s 40-year history, capturing the Ed Chynoweth Cup with a 4-2 victory over the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday to complete a four-game sweep of the final series in front of a sold-out crowd at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Martin Rysavy had two goals for the Warriors, opening the scoring on the power play in the first period and adding an empty-netter in the third to seal the win. Matthew Savoie and Brayden Schurmann also scored for Moose Jaw and Jackson Unger made 24 saves for the victory.

Former Saskatchewan Roughriders President and CEO Jim Hopson, who oversaw a decade of exponential growth that turned the football team into one of the CFL's premiere franchises, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 73.

Hopson was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in April 2021.

After a four-year playing career with the Riders that saw him suit up with the likes of George Reed and Ron Lancaster from 1973 to 1976, he became the team's first full-time President and CEO in 2005, a position he held until his retirement in 2015.
