The NWHU is warning the public of confirmed and suspected blue-green algae blooms in the area.
The Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) has been busy following up on reports of suspected blue-green algae.
A blue-green algae bloom was confirmed in Minniaki Lake near Sioux Lookout on July 21, and another suspected bloom on Pelican Lake in Sioux Lookout has been ruled out as NOT blue-green algae.

Pope Francis says he is sorry for the Roman Catholic Church’s role in cultural destruction and forced assimilation of Indigenous people, which culminated in residential schools.
Francis apologized Monday in front of residential school survivors and elders in Maskwacis, Alta., south of Edmonton after visiting the site of the former Ermineskin Indian Residential School.
He received applause from many in the crowd of thousands.
A portion of Matheson Street is closed today, Hungry Pug site to be cleaned
The City of Kenora would like to advise the public that the portion of Matheson Street between Second Street South and Third Street will be closed to the public today.
The road will be closed until 4:30 pm.
This closure is necessary for crews to clean up the scene of the Hungry Pug fire.
Gas prices continue to decline
Record high gas prices are continuing to fall.
Several service stations in the Kenora area are selling a litre of regular gasoline for 188.9, this is an eight-cent drop.
While still high, gas prices in Kenora have dropped 35 cents since reaching an all-time high of 223.9 per litre on June 16, 2022.
Gas prices in the Kenora area are slightly over the national average of 180.8 per litre.
195.9 per litre is the average price of gas in Dryden according to GasBuddy.com.

The biggest stock car racing event of the year at Lake of the Woods Speedway is Saturday, July 30 and Sunday July 31, 2022. The Dinner Jacket Classic Series including the inaugural Bruce Krawicki Memorial on day one.
