Back-to-back storms could bring 80-90mm of rain
A Special Weather Statement remains in effect in northwestern Ontario, which is still calling for a significant amount of rainfall this week.
Environment Canada’s statement says we could see up to 50 mm of rain today and tonight, with another storm set to move in from Minnesota by tonight or tomorrow morning. They say the second storm could bring an additional 40 mm.
Falcon Beach collision claims the life of Winnipeg man
One man was pronounced dead following a collision on Highway 1.
Falcon Beach RCMP recently released details of a single-vehicle collision on May 25, 2022, that happened on Highway 1, near the Birch River bridge, in the RM of Reynolds.
The vehicle was travelling west on Highway 1 when it went into the ditch and rolled.

New details are coming to light following an incident involving a train on Tunnel Island in Kenora.
Kent Readman, Chief of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services, spoke with KenoraOnline Sunday evening and detailed what happened.
"Rocks slid onto the tracks and then a train hit it. There are no serious injuries to anyone on the train and no hazardous materials spilled," said Chief Redman adding that Canadian Pacific Railway is on the scene and assessing the condition of the railway and the train.

Early Years Community Project
The Kenora Early Years Community Project celebrates the complex thinking of children in the community, who are up to 6 years old from childcare programs and kindergarten classes.
Children share what they hear, see and smell from a walk in the wilderness and contribute their artwork, clay, song or other medium.
The kick-off event takes place June 9 at 5:00pm at Lake of the Woods Museum. Families can enjoy free refreshments at the opening and the exhibit continues until June 11, 2022. Admission for this exhibit is free to families in the area.
Road and highway update - May 30
As of 6:00am Monday, May 30:
Hwy 600 is closed between Fern's Rd and Berg Rd due to a washout. Detour is available from Berg's Rd to Split Rock Rd.
Blue Lake Loop Road – Vermilion Bay, between Hwy 647 Jct and Quibell Rd is closed. Traffic control in place. Use extreme caution in the area.
Quibell Rd. - Vermilion Bay, Hwy 609/Quibell Rd. closed to commercial vehicles and heavy trucks. Passenger vehicles and school busses only.
Hwy 105 - Vermilion Bay, Closed at Buller Creek due to water over the road. Detour available via Hwy 609.

'It’s impacting us in the north', Melillo on rising inflation rate
Canadian wallets have been hit hard this year, as the country’s inflation rate rose to a 30-year high of 6.8 per cent in April.
Gasoline, food, and housing costs are skyrocketing, which has caused an affordability crisis in Canada. Kenora MP, Eric Melillo is encouraging the federal government to find solutions such as cutting the GST, a Carbon Tax pause, and limiting public spending, to allow relief for Canadians.
Kenora OPP details Lock It or Lose It campaign
The Kenora OPP continues to be concerned with amounts of thefts and mischief within the city, as April of 2022 saw an 11.8 per cent increase in property crime, as presented at May 24, 2022, Kenora Police Services Board Meeting.
In total, April of 2022 saw the OPP report 76 property crime-related incidents, compared to only 68 in the same time period last year, a change of 13 per cent year-over-year.
