Excitement filled the air as farmers and agriculture enthusiasts gathered in Humboldt, on Tuesday, June 27 to celebrate the grand opening of SWAT Maps - Croptimistic, a cutting-edge precision farming technology center.

The event marked a significant milestone for the local farming community, as they now have access to state-of-the-art tools and expertise to optimize crop production.

They are pirates, explorers, wranglers and farmers. Sometimes they play under the sea or in a winter wonderland. But they’re also among the more than 500 campers and athletes so far signed up for programming this year at Tamarack Gymnastics. 

As co-founder Amanda Pierson explains, Tamarack has been operating summer camps since 2021, and the 2023 season will run from July 3rd thru the end of August. What’s new this year, and launched by popular demand, is half-day programs and pre-school camps. 

A partnership between the Regional Health Authority (Southern Health-Santé Sud) and BTHC Foundation will expand BTHC to meet our community’s health and wellness needs, from birth to end-of-life. This expansion plan was developed by our community, with input from patients and residents. The $100 million expansion will add significantly to the diagnostic services, treatments and healthcare you will be able to access close to home.

Midnight Harvest is an agricultural equipment repair service that will work on any manufacturer. They focus on combine harvesters, with Lexion their specialty. However, with joint experience, they have 25 years experience on New Holland Equipment, too.

When Sajda Siemens’ daughter entered 9th grade, she realized there was limited support outside of the classroom to help students succeed.

“I really struggled to help my daughter with some of the more complex subjects that she was working on,” Siemens said. “I knew firsthand that there weren’t any services in the area to support parents like me and I also knew from many of my friends that their children were really struggling, especially in the last few years.”

Not long ago I read a book called Walking Through Fire: A Memoir of Loss and Redemption by Vaneetha Randall Reisner. Vaneetha suffered much from a debilitating disease, loss of babies including an infant son, and her husband was unfaithful to her and left her. Incredibly she writes, “I no longer contrast joy with sorrow because I found they can coexist. It is purposelessness not sorrow that squelches joy. When we begin to understand God‘s purpose– begin to glimpse him working for good – we can experience true joy even inside our story.”

It says a lot when award-winning athletics is one of numerous activities in which a high school student is involved. The on-court talent is a given, but it also speaks to energy, dedication and a heart for people in the community. 

Peyton Kehler, the Providence University College High School Student-Athlete of the Month for May 2023, has a lot going on. Her Grade 11 exams will shortly round out a period she admits has been “chaotic.” But you get the feeling she wouldn’t have it any other way.
