When Sajda Siemens’ daughter entered 9th grade, she realized there was limited support outside of the classroom to help students succeed.
“I really struggled to help my daughter with some of the more complex subjects that she was working on,” Siemens said. “I knew firsthand that there weren’t any services in the area to support parents like me and I also knew from many of my friends that their children were really struggling, especially in the last few years.”
Inspired to help not just her daughter, but students across the Southeast, Siemens has opened Scholars of Steinbach – providing parents and students with individualized tutoring programs in reading, writing, math, and French for preschool to grade 8, as well as subject specific support and exam prep for high school students.
The team of tutors at Scholars of Steinbach includes certified teachers, university students obtaining education degrees, and university students in math and science intensive streams. Since opening the doors in April, Siemens has received tremendous feedback from students and parents alike.
“We’ve already had over 40 students enroll in our program,” Siemens said. “The best feedback that we’ve received from many parents is that their child’s attitude towards learning and their confidence has improved greatly.”
Families looking to learn more about Scholars of Steinbach are invited to their Grand Opening Celebration – Saturday June 24th from 1pm to 3pm at 40 North Gate Drive.
“It’s going to be an action-packed fun day. Hopefully, the weather is beautiful for it.”
The parking lot at Scholars of Steinbach will be buzzing – with face painting, a balloon artist, inflatable obstacle run, barbecue lunch, and a grand prize giveaway of a propane pizza oven.
Inside – Siemens is excited to show the community how her team is reigniting a passion for learning in all students.
“We want to give them the resources to allow them to be the best student they can be.”
