Freezing Rain Warning ended for Steinbach area

More freezing rain is impacting the province Sunday morning. 

Environment Canada says a warm front will bring a "brief" period of freezing rain as it moves into the region.

The warning was issued at 8:30am and ended at 9:40am.

Steinbach could reach 8 degrees today with freezing rain and snow.

By Tuesday, it is expected to warm up to 10 degrees.

The crowd at Canada Life Centre was all applause for a furry official at the start of Tuesday night's game.

Duke the dog was back for a special "pup drop" for last night's ceremonial faceoff.

"Tonight is our Child Advocacy game and Jets captain Adam Lowry has been working alongside Toba Centre to raise awareness and lend his support to youth who attend the facility," the Jets said in a social media post.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for parts of the province's southwest.

Meteorologists say that snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected, accompanied by localized blowing snow.

Adult & Teen Challenge hit by thieves twice in 1 week

Students and staff at Adult & Teen Challenge (ATC) are hoping and praying that stolen property will find its way back to the Christian addictions program.

"It’s been an interesting week," ATC says on their Facebook page. "Two thefts at two different ATC properties in one week!"

The first theft happened earlier this week at ATC's vehicle donation program yard, located just east of Winnipeg in the RM of Springfield. Staff say a van and an ATV were stolen from the property in that incident.

Canada's annual inflation rate spiked to 8.1 per cent in June according to new data from Statistics Canada (Stats Can). It's the largest yearly change in 39 years.

The climbing inflation rate came largely from gas prices, which were up over 50 per cent when compared to a year ago, Stats Can says in its report on Wednesday, July 20. Excluding the cost of gasoline, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the country was up by 6.5 per cent.

Skydiving fatality in Gimli

A Winnipeg woman is dead following a skydiving accident over the weekend in Gimli, Man.

The Manitoba RCMP says in a release that officers from the Gimli detachment were called just before 7:30 on Saturday evening.

Officers received a report that there had been a parachuting incident at the Gimli Industrial Park.
