Prairie Day at Gardenton Park in photos

Prairie Day took place in Gardenton yesterday and they had a lot of information to share about the plants and animals in the area. 

They started the day off with guided walks at the Prairie Shore Trail. There were different tours in the morning for plants, wildflowers, and insects. Then in the afternoon, they had guest speakers set up in Gardenton Park to help spread more knowledge of the really cool species in the prairies.

Back Porch Jam and Farm to Table Market were back once again yesterday evening in Grunthal. There were beer gardens and awesome live music from Sweet Water Creek Band. 

BackPorch Jam will be back for more fun again next Tuesday. Same place, same time. This time around The Cracked Egg Shell will be performing.  

Next Tuesday will be the last BackPorch Jam of the season, so make sure you come on out!

Farm to Table Market and BackPorch Jam took place in Grunthal yesterday evening. There were beer gardens and incredible live music from Frannie Klein and The Jake Brakes.

Near the end of the concert, The Jake Brakes invited an auctioneer to the stage and they auctioned off a CD of theirs which sold for $50.  

BackPorch Jam will be back for more fun again next Tuesday. Same place, same time. This time around Sweet Water Creek will be performing. 

Show Us Your Summer: your garden

There are some great looking gardens in southeast Manitoba!  We saw photos of vegetable and flower gardens and some amazing yards in the latest round of Show Us Your Summer.  Katarina Wiebe shared a photo of her standing in her garden standing beside her very very tall tomato plants!  Her photo was randomly chosen to win this week of Show Us Your Summer.

Katarina won $500 worth of mulch from Mulch 2Go and is now making some plans for yardwork!

A weekend at Pioneer Days in photos

Pioneer Days took place this weekend at the Mennonite Heritage Village. 

They had various demonstrations set up teaching people different skills, like how to bake bread, mill wheat, make ropes, and much more. 

Tours were held, animals were petted, and food was eaten. They also had a family history station in the Village Centre where you could research your family history. 

Show Us Your Summer: your family keeping cool

It's been a hot summer and in the latest round of Show Us Your Summer, we asked to see photos of how you and your family are keeping cool!  Lots of you are keeping cool with ice cream, playing in the water, fishing and finding some great shady spots to cool off!  Christine Dyck's photo submission of her family enjoying the water at Steep Rock earlier this summer was randomly chosen to win this week!  

Christine won a 10ft parasol umbrella and 2 lawn chairs from Giant Tiger in Steinbach.  

$31,000 raised in weekend Touch-A-Truck event

A Touch-a-Truck fundraiser took place in Kleefeld Saturday bringing in around $31,000 to help with 3-year-old Hallie Thiessen’s medical expenses.

She battles a rare medical condition with severe complications.  

Her mom, Cari-Lynn Thiessen, says they planned the Touch-a-Truck fundraiser to help cover medical and nutritional costs for Hallie.
