Naked man spotted in Kananaskis sparks safety warning
The search for a nude man spotted at a Kananaskis Country campground many times over the past few months continues.
Mount Kidd RV Park has issued a safety warning after a recent sighting of an unclothed man near the campground.
This follows multiple sightings of the man since July.
Pilot error, poor weather cited in fatal Cochrane area plane crash
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has identified poor weather conditions and time pressures as contributing factors in a plane crash that occurred west of Calgary on July 28, 2023.
The incident involved a Piper PA-32R aircraft that had departed from Springbank Airport, bound for Salmon Arm, British Columbia.
Investigators report that the pilot did not fully comprehend the weather conditions at the time of takeoff and continued flying despite poor visibility.
Cougar following walker triggers Kananaskis warning
A cougar warning is in place for Paddy's Flat Campground after a walker with dogs reported being trailed by a cougar.
The advisory, issued on Tuesday, December 19, will remain until further notice.
The campground is located in the Elbow River Provincial Recreation Area, approximately 13.2 kilometres west of Bragg Creek.
New pet incidents in Bragg Creek prompts cougar warning
A Bragg Creek community group has issued a warning on its Facebook page after a several cougar sightings took place over the past week.
The Bragg Creek Wild Facebook page said there have been three new pet incidents, this comes after several dogs were killed over the last few months in that area.
Residents are being advised to carry bear spray, keep their children close by and to walk their dogs on a leash.
Encounter with grizzly closes K-Country trail
A warning for anyone heading to Kananaskis Country for a hike over the next few days.
The Tent Ridge Loop Trail is currently closed after hikers had a surprise encounter with a grizzly bear on the weekend.
The trail is a 10 km loop near Dead Man's Flats in the Spray Valley Provincial Park.
The meeting happened on Sunday and was immediately reported.
The advisory is now in place, but parks officials are reminding park goers that bear encounters can occur at anytime.

No human remains found in search near Bragg Creek
The search for human remains near Bragg Creek has wrapped up without anything tangible.
Calgary Police spent several days searching a rural property along Hwy. 762 after receiving what they called "credible information."
Investigators have not revealed many details about the case, other than saying it is several decades old.
The search included the use of police dogs and ground-penetrating radar.
Maskwacis bull rider fatally injured during event
A young man has died after being injured in the Îyârhe (Stoney) Nakoda First Nation.
The young bull rider was bucked off and fatally injured while competing at the Chiniki Rodeo Grounds at around 5 p.m. Sunday.
The three-day Indian National Finals Rodeo (INFR) wrapped up late yesterday.
Homer Holloway, a committee member for the Canada Day Rodeo said "He was the third last one to come out. He had a helmet on, but the helmet didn't even break, he got hit on the head with a bullhorn, and he was thrown. He got up and the bull hit him again on the chest."
Toddler dies at popular campground
A young girl has died at a campground near Canmore after she was reported missing.
Canmore RCMP got a call about the missing two-year-old on Thursday at 4:55 p.m. at the Bow River Campground.
Officers from the Canmore Detachment along with RCMP Traffic Services, Canmore Fire Rescue, Conservation Officers, and Kananaskis Mountain Rescue attended the scene.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., the child was located in the river.
She was taken to hospital, but was pronounced deceased.
Flood Warning issued for Bow River between Banff and Exshaw
Alberta Environment has issued a number of warnings, watches and high streamflow advisories for the Bow River Basin.
A Flood Warning for the Bow River at Banff, Canmore and Exshaw has been issued.
Water levels could rise between one and two metres, which may cause basement seepage and flooding of low-lying residential areas.
Residents are being asked to keep away from moving water and respect any temporary closures.
