Lawncare expert says it’s not too late to prepare your yard for winter

As we move through the last half of October, we are reminded that there is still time to get the lawn ready for winter. 

Shane Warkentin with Best Way Lawn Care and Landscaping says it is a good idea to lower the mower blade for the final cut of the year. 

“Cut it down a bit shorter to prevent damage from voles and mice,” he says. 

Giving heating equipment some attention as the temperature drops

With cooler weather during the day and even cooler temperatures at night, we are reminded of a few things we can do that will improve the efficiency of our furnaces. 

By taking proactive measures, Darren Krentz with GLT Heating and Cooling says we reduce the likelihood of having furnace trouble when we are in greatest need of some heat.

Fall Food Drive results in over 10,000 pounds of food for SEHH

The Fall Food Drive has wrapped up and the Southeast stepped up this week to fill the shelves of the food bank at Southeast Helping Hands. 

During the event, we saw an example of how non-profit organizations support each other.

This community bicycle repair shop has recently opened in La Broquerie. 

Jacinthe Wiebe and her husband Wade recently opened the shop and are inviting the community to be part of their dream. 

3 coaches and 12 gymnasts score 18 awards at the Western Canada Cup

Local athletes gave strong performances at the Western Canada Cup for trampoline tumbling in Port Moody, BC. 

Tamarack Gymnastics in Steinbach had 12 athletes represent our province at the competition which lasted three days. 

Coach Amanda Pierson says the athletes had some nerves going into the competition and the team did not have high expectations.
