Carol Jean Strecker (nee Rusnak)

After a short illness, Carol Strecker passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025 with family by her side at her home at the age of 79 years.

A private interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery.  Everyone is welcome to join the family for Carol’s celebration of life on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 313 Dufferin Ave West in Portage la Prairie from 3:00pm to 5:30pm, small lunch will be served.

Karen Lynn Conrod (nee Angus)

February 5, 1951 – June 26, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Karen Lynn Conrod on June 26, 2025, in Portage la Prairie at the age of 74.

Sandra Lynn Vivier

With her family by her side Sandra Vivier passed away suddenly on June 24, 2025 in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 69 years.

James “Jim” Wallace Pehura

With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of James “Jim” Pehura on June 22, 2025. He died peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. A father, grandfather, uncle, teacher and retired principal, he leaves behind an unmeasurable impact on the lives of his family, students, co-workers and friends in Portage la Prairie.

Matthijs “Martin” Jan Schimmel
 

Peacefully, on June 13, 2025, Matthijs ‘Martin’ Jan Schimmel passed from this earth to join his son Arie and grandsons Ethan and Daniel.

Our Family was blessed to be able to spend Martin’s last days by his side, listening to his favourite music while reminiscing and laughing about times gone by. We’re pretty sure Martin was listening to the shenanigans-smiling as always!

Edward “Ed” Nikkel

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Edward Nikkel passed away on June 11, 2025 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 79 years.

William George Klassen

We regret to announce the passing of William “Willie” Klassen on May 23, 2025 at his home in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 67 years.

Willie will be lovingly remembered by his children Scott (Jenny) Klassen and Jazmine Klassen (Jeremy Whitford), grandchildren Jamie and Makenna Klassen, sister Judy Weiler, brother John Klassen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Peter Klassen, mother Tini “Katie” Klassen, brothers Jim Klassen and Ben Klassen.

Peacefully on June 6, 2025, Kenneth “Ken” Vicars passed away with his daughter by his side at Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 96 years.

Roy Andrew Lyall

Peacefully with his family by his side, Roy Lyall passed away on May 28, 2025, at the Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 103 years.

Donald McCulloch

Peacefully on June 4, 2025, Donald “Don” McCulloch of Oakville, MB passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 96 years.
