Robert Turko

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Turko at the Portage District General Hospital with family by his side.  Bob passed on February 11, 2023, at the age of 83 years. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Fern; daughter Nicole and son Darcy (Nici); grandchildren Ethan (Kiandra) and Kylee; sister Janet and nephew Jeffrey (Barb); in-laws Thelma, Betty, Arnold (Val), Ivor, Garth (Tracey), Kelly, Sandra and Carol; along with many special nieces and nephews. 

Garda Sylvia Sinclair Moran

Garda passed peacefully the morning of February 7, 2023. Her family had gathered to be with her as she began her journey to her ancestors.

Her family invites you to a viewing and reception that will take place at McKenzies Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie, MB on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

She will complete her journey where it started with a memorial service and interment later this spring in the Fisher River Cree Nation.

John Scott Walsh

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of John Walsh, of Portage la Prairie, MB, on February 5th, 2023 after a long, courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 70 years.                            

Mary Britton (nee Toews)

Mary Britton, of Portage la Prairie, MB, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023 after a short battle with leukemia.

Joe Everett

With sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Joe Everett on January 10, 2023 at the age of 67 years.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Brenda Everett of 32 years; son Robert (Vicky) Lilley; step-son Lenny (Linda) Gladue and two other children; grandchildren Faith, Arthur, Samantha, Kyla, Chassidy and great grandchild Gillian; sister Sandra (Gerald); brother Marty (Gerri) Everett and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Merle Everett, mother Elsie Lavalee and sister Carolynn Everett.

Nori Beth Wall

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our sweet girl Nori Wall passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2023 at the age of 8 years.

Left to mourn Nori’s passing are her father and mother Richard and Haleigh Wall, her older sister Rayah and her twin sister Lea; along with grandma Marianne Wall, grandpa Kelly Voth and grandma Lisa Voth, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.  She was predeceased by her grandpa Alvin Wall.

Edward Frank Upward

Peacefully on January 22, 2023, Edward “Ed” Upward passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 74 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Lorrie; sons Brant and Corbin; along with his uncle Harry and many relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Edna and Frank; brother Gerry; mother-in-law Jean (Mammy Nash); father-in-law Del and several aunts and uncles.

George "Bernard" Hill

It is with heavy hearts and much love that we must announce the passing of George Bernard Hill, beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He passed away on January 14, 2023, with family by his side.

Eva Catherine Miller           

We are sad to announce that Eva Catherine Miller (nee Mair), formerly of Oakville, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the age of 90.

Jackie Ray Miller

After a long courageous battle with cancer, Jackie Miller passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the age of 58 years.

Jackie will be lovingly remembered by his sons Chris (Katherine) and Robbie, daughter Amy, granddaughter Camille; mothers of his children Darlene and Rebecca; mother Helen Miller; brother Eddie (Kim) Miller; sister Brenda (Leroy) Miller-Adams; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his father Jack Miller.
