Agriculture Minister RJ Sigurdson says events like the Calgary Stampede help to bridge the gap in understanding agriculture
The Calgary Stampede is underway, the always popular event attracts thousands of people over ten days.
Agriculture Minister RJ Sigurdson says its always a fun time and puts a spotlight on agriculture and our western heritage.
"Calgary Stampede has always been an amazing partner with agriculture. Of course, that's where it stems from, that's where it started. Rodeo really truly is a part of our culture and heritage here."
Now's the time to get involved with the SCA
Nominations are now being accepted for the Saskatchewan Cattlemen's Association board of directors.
The SCA is looking for cattle producers who are interested in taking an active part in the cattle organization.
CEO Grant McLellan says nominations are now open for board directors in Districts 2, 3b, 5, 7 and 9A.
"Any registered cattle producer has the ability to put their name forward to stand for an election to join the SCA board and help guide the direction of where the checkoff dollars of this province are going."

4-H Judging Competition:
The Frontier Days 4-H Regional Judging Competition will see the top eight participants moving on to the Provincial Competition next month.
Congratulations to all the members of this years regional team listed by club in no specific order: Makaila Peutert, Aspen Blake and Will Rieder from the Mankota 4-H Club, Kelsey Schmitz, Emma Thomason, Rhyker Vangen, and Kashton Giraudier of the Ernfold 4-H Club and Cacey Toner.
AAFC Swift Current Research and Development Centre Field Tour set for July 4
The Swift Current Research and Development Centre is holding a Crops and Soils Field Day on Thursday, July 4.
Dr. Michelle Hubbard says the event is open to producers and will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 4th.
She says it will feature some of the work being done at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada facility.
"We'll see a number of trials, including one that I'm on, chickpea and flax intercropping. Then there is three trials led by Dr. Kui Liu an agronomist here, and three led by Dr. Mervin St. Luce, also an agronomist specializing in nitrogen."

A Saskatchewan farmer from Nokomis is the new Chairperson for the Cereals Canada Board of Directors.
Brett Halstead operates a mixed farm and serves as a director on the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission, where he was previously the board chair.
Cereals Canada releas Annual Report for 2023
Cereals Canada has released its 2023 Annual Report highlighting the organization's work around market access, market support and development and technical achievements.
CEO Dean Dias says the release of the report is an exciting time because the staff has done some incredible work in support of the cereals value chain.
He says Cereals Canada is responsible for work relating to wheat, barley, and oats in a number of areas like market access.
Frontier Days 4-H Steer Show and Sale
The 4-H Steer sale wrapped up the livestock events Saturday night at Frontier Days.
This year 94 steers sold for an average price of $4.41 a pound.
The high-selling steer owned by Cord Williamson of the Mankota 4-H Club sold to Nelson GM at Assiniboia for $6.25 per pound.
The Grand Champion steer in the sale was owned by Jesse Olson from the Wymark 4-H Club to Plewis Automotive for $5.30 per pound.

The 4-H Heifer Show brought some good competition to the show ring with Garrett Liebreich of Radville having the tough job of judging the class.

The livestock area was a busy place during Frontier Days.
4-Her's from around the South West taking over the Bernie Kemick Arena for most of the weekend.
One of the events featured was the 4-H Judging Competition, where members had the opportunity to use what they learned about raising and showing an animal
and put it to the test by being on the other side as a judge.
Topping the 4H Judging Competition in the Cloverbud class was Sloane Hanson from the Burnham 4-H Club.
The Junior Champion was Lane Wall from the Grazers 4-H Club
