Bibeau announces second cohort of Canadian Agricultural Youth Council
On Thursday, Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, unveiled the names of the members who will form the second cohort of the Canadian Agricultural Youth Council (CAYC). The inaugural meeting of this new group of 25 young people will be held later this summer. The members of this cohort will serve 18-month terms.
Representatives from Manitoba include Chantele Gouliquer and Boma N-Chris.
Waiting to swath canola leads to higher yields
The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) says growers who give canola crops time for all seeds to reach maturity can see a 10 per cent increase in yield. Agronomy Specialist Shawn Senko recommends swathing when the main stem shows at least 60 per cent seed colour change.

Strathmore’s 2022 Rodeo School right around the corner
Each summer after the Strathmore Stampede wraps up and before the start of High School Rodeo, cowboys and cowgirls descend on the Strathmore and District Agricultural grounds for Rodeo School.
The 2022 Rodeo School takes place from August 15th to 18th.

The coaches are amazing and there's so much knowledge that goes towards helping the young cowboys and cowgirls that are coming up now.”
Dry week moves harvest closer in latest Saskatchewan crop report
Saskatchewan is moving closer to harvest after a dry week, especially in the southwest as some areas have already begun.
Rain and some higher temperatures caused a drying effect across the province for southern regions, while those in the north had some moisture come down.
Crops extension specialist Matthew Struthers says the blast of heat into the south is going to help out with the drying of crops down there.
Agri-Environmental specialists look to help producers make beneficial changes to farmland
BMPs, or Beneficial Management Practices, are a variety of programs that the provincial government is encouraging to help producers.
Those can include infrastructure, land management, and other processes that help producers get the most out of their land.
To help with that, Agri-Environmental Specialists are available to advise farmers as to the best practices.
Keana Boere, one of those specialists, says that they focus on helping producers maintain stewardship over their land.

115+ Farming operations across the province will welcome Albertans in to experience rural life from August 13th to 14th.
