Public gives feedback on FCL's Integrated Agriculture Complex
Federated Co-operatives Limited held an open house this week to get the public's feedback on their Integrated Agriculture Complex at Regina.
Patrick Bergermann, FCL's associate vice president of the energy roadmap says they had over 150 people come out to learn more about the two projects involved.
SARM delegates focus on some key resolutions
The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities held their Mid Term Convention in Regina this week.
Over the two days delegates took part in educational break-out sessions, heard from some keynote speakers, and debated a number of resolutions.
SARM delegates voted 83 per cent in favor of calling on the Province to review the current process to develop a fair and balanced approach to representation in government.
The resolution focusing on how electoral boundaries in the Province are drawn up was brought forward by the RM of Piapot #110.
Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame gala honours 2023 inductees
Seven lifelong Canadian agriculture ambassadors from across the country were formally inducted into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame on November 4 at a ceremony in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The 2023 inductees are Garnet Altwasser, John Bragg, Rory Francis, Marcel Groleau, Ron Helwer, Robert K. Irving and Ray Robertson.
Kostyshyn addresses KAP Advisory Council Meeting
The Keystone Agricultural Producers held their November Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday.
Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyshyn told participants that the government will work to ensure that Agriculture continues to be a major driver of the economy, including working with value-added opportunities.
MBP wraps up District Meetings
The Manitoba Beef Producers wrapped up their District Meetings with a virtual event on Tuesday.
General Manager Carson Callum noted that 2023 was a variable year with some areas too wet and some too dry.
"It's just a really mixed bag of production outcomes that we saw. So producers from our understanding and over the last number of weeks, in-person meetings, have been able to find enough feed or produce enough feed or have some carryover. So going into the winter months it's not as concerning as say we saw in 2021."
Farm Succession Planning night set for Hodgeville
A local independent financial advisor has organized a farm succession planning event in Hodgeville for next week.
Janelle Lansdall will be teaming up with keynote speaker Chris Thompson next Thursday at the village's hall to put on the evening.
Lansdall said she's thrilled for the get-together in her rural area.
"I think this is going to be a really interesting take on the numbers side, financial side, and also the farm legacy side and the emotions that come along with farm transition planning," she said.
Red Deer Agri-Trade is underway
The Red Deer Agri-Trade event opened to the public today.
Show Manager David Fiddler says about 30,000 people are expected to come through the gates over the next three days.
He emphasizes that's a result of being the Right Show at the Right Time in the Right Location.
The show features the latest in agriculture equipment and technology, services, and products from the top mainline farm equipment dealers to short-line manufacturers.
Senate rejects amendments to Bill C-234
It was a key vote in the Senate on Tuesday as the majority of Senators voted no to the proposed amendments to Bill C-234.
The amendments would have removed the provisions in the bill allowing for the exemption for barn and greenhouse heating.
The Senate voted to hold the third reading of the bill the next time it sits.
According to the Senate website, they are set to return today (Wednesday).
In a press release, late yesterday the Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) Executive Director Kyle Larkin was clearly pleased with the outcome of the vote.
USask new MOU focuses on collaboration for animal health vaccines
The University of Saskatchewan’s (USask) Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Centre for Veterinary Vaccine Innovation and Manufacturing (CVIM) at The Pirbright Institute (Pirbright). The MOU allows for expanded collaborations and training around vaccine manufacturing to drive innovations for animal health.
Two Manitoba Farm Groups looking to fill board seats
Manitoba Canola Growers are looking for producers to sit on their board of directors.
Four seats are up for election in 2023, each holding a four-year term.
Nominations are set to open November 15th and will close November 30th.

Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers are also looking to fill some vacant seats at the board table.
