Police say stabbing of Bishop and priest during Australian church service was terrorism

A teenager is facing charges in relation to a knife attack at an Australian church on Monday, and several people including a bishop and priest are recovering from injuries sustained in the attack as well as in violent clashes with police in the aftermath.

The incident was captured on live stream during a church service Monday evening. Video quickly spread online showing the teenage attacker lunging at Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel of the Assyrian Christ The Good Shepherd Church. 

Masters golf champion gives God all the glory

The 2024 Masters Tournament's new champion is using his win to point to Jesus. 

At 27 years old, American Scottie Scheffler took the top spot at the Masters tournament, a contest that decides the best golfer in the world. Ludvig Åberg from Sweden took the second spot, four strokes behind. 

"I believe that today's plans were already laid out many years ago, and I could do nothing to mess up those plans," Scheffler said during the Masters post-tournament conference. "I have been given a gift of this talent, and I use it for God's glory. That's pretty much it."

Prairie Auction Marts see an increase in volumes

It was a busy week at auction marts across the Prairies with more animals moving to town.

The Manitoba Cattle Marketing Report shows 8,658 animals moved through seven of the province's eight auction marts last week.

Whitecourt RCMP arrests prolific property offenders

On April 11, 2024, Whitecourt RCMP were advised of a series of break-ins at a rural oilfield plant on Windfall Road. At the time of the call, RCMP was advised that the suspects were still on site with a rented transport truck. A multi-unit response, including Whitecourt RCMP General Duty and Roving Traffic Unit (RTU), attended the scene. Three offenders were located and arrested in the rented truck by Whitecourt RCMP RTU after they left the scene. The truck contained stolen materials from the plant.

Winning bidder of classic hockey cards looks to find owner who cares more about them

The winning bidder of more than a dozen unopened boxes of classic hockey cards uncovered in a Regina home says he's feeling remorse over his $3.7-million-dollar purchase after hearing how sad the runner-up was upon losing out.

"When I heard the runner-up bidder was literally devastated by missing out on acquiring this, I felt real empathy for him," Jack Arshawsky of Thornhill, Ont. said in an interview, adding he's hoping someone famous, perhaps even Wayne Gretzky, might be interested in taking the boxes off his hands.

First 2024 Canada carbon rebates will be deposited today for some Canadians

The first instalment of the 2024 Canada carbon rebate will be delivered to some Canadians today as long as they filed their taxes by the middle of March.

Canadians living in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and all four Atlantic provinces will receive the first of four instalments today if they filed their 2023 taxes by March 15.

Those who filed their taxes since March 15 will see their first instalment on May 15, while those who file after today will wait until June or July.
