The Canada Grains Act Summit is taking place today

The grain sector is coming together in Saskatoon to discuss the Canada Grain Act.

The summit is being hosted by the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission.

APAS President Ian Boxall says the Canada Grain Act Summit is an opportunity to discuss key issues, innovations, regulations, and competitiveness within the grain sector.

He says they've invited 40 organizations to attend with producer groups, researchers, stakeholders and government officials both Federal and Provincial.

Ottawa increases interest-free portion of the Advance Payments Program to $250,000

Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay is raising the interest free limit on the 2024 Advance Payments Program.

The Advance Payments Program gives producers access to cash advances of up to $1 million, with the first $250 thousand dollars now being interest free.

He says in the face of so many challenges, our hardworking producers continue to show their resilience and produce top-quality products for Canadians, and the world.

GP council approves 2024 advocacy priority list

During the City of Grande Prairie council meeting held on March 11, council approved the 2024 Advocacy Priority List.

The key advocacy priorities for 2024 are:

·         Electricity Distribution Costs;

·         Health Care Supports;

·         Medical First Response Funding;

·         Northwestern Polytechnic Support; and

·         Provincial and Federal Funding for Housing Needs

Other advocacy priorities include:

·         Improved Rail Service;

·         Provincial Changes to Automated Traffic Enforcement; and

NCAA wrestlers put Jesus front and centre at recent championship event

Jesus was front and centre at the NCAA wrestling championships this past weekend. 

Two college wrestlers, Aaron Brooks and David Carr, wore headbands that said '100% Jesus.'

Carr from Iowa State went on to win his second NCAA championship, a national title at 165 lbs.

"100 % Jesus!! 2x NCAA CHAMP All glory to God" said Carr in a post on Instagram. 

When asked what his thoughts and emotions were when it came to being a finalist this year, he again gave all the glory to God.

Locked away until now, Amy Grant releases remastered album

Amy Grant is releasing music from the archives onto digital platforms.

Released in 1993, Grant's Songs From The Loft is now available on streaming services while previously having been out of print for years.
