Grande Prairie RCMP arrest individual for breaching court order
On Dec. 11, 2024, at approximately 2:48 p.m., Grade Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint regarding a male who was allegedly breaching their probation order. Officers attended the area and positively identified the individual, who was arrested without incident.
Dakota Small, a 31-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following offence:
Failure to comply with probation order
14 outstanding warrants
Snowfall warning for the Peace Country
A snowfall warning is in effect today for the Peace Country.
Heavy snowfall, with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected.
Snow will continue intensify this morning across portions of Northern BC, Central and Southern Alberta and will move towards the east today with snow tapering off this evening.

Justin Trudeau 'taking the time to reflect' following Freeland departure ▶️
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is taking some time to reflect after Chrystia Freeland's bombshell resignation, the natural resources minister said on Tuesday.
"The prime minister, as I understand it, a number of caucus colleagues have said that the prime minister has said that he will reflect on both the decision that minister Freeland made, but also what he's heard from members of his own caucus," Jonathan Wilkinson said.
"I think we all need to give him a little time to reflect, and I respect that fact that he's going to take some time to reflect."

The challenge we face is painfully obvious. We've seen from the previous devotionals that our foundations are in place and trustworthy. The Lord our God, being our refuge and very present help, relieves us of fear and worry. He is in sovereign control. He hasn't lost His grip on our times. Under His mighty hand, we humble ourselves. And, in spite of our adversary's subtle and deceitful strategy, we are certain of this: In the end, God wins. What we need until then is a courage transfusion.
Grade 6 students give hope in support of Grande Prairie's Mustard Seed
Grade 6 students at Grande Prairie Christian School have made a meaningful impact this Christmas season, raising $3,700 to support The Mustard Seed of Grande Prairie. This experience has helped those in need and changed how the students experience the season.
“Active citizenship is part of the Grade 6 social studies curriculum,” explained Grade 6 teacher Julianna Davidson. “Our class discussed ideas and researched organizations we could become active with at Christmas, and they chose the local Mustard Seed.”
Canada’s inflation rate down a tick to 1.9% in November
Inflation edged down slightly to 1.9 per cent in November as price growth continued to stabilize in Canada.
Statistics Canada’s consumer price index report Tuesday showed inflation was down from two per cent in October.
Shelter costs increased at a slower annual pace of 4.6 per cent, while rent price inflation accelerated to 7.7 per cent.
Grocery prices continued to grow faster than overall prices, rising 2.6 per cent from a year ago.
