Fort St John fire department responds to significant structure fire

At approximately 4:40 am on December 8, 2024, the Fort St. John Fire Department responded to a significant structure fire in the 8100 block of 100 Avenue. Seven apparatus and 16 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where they encountered a working fire originating in the basement and extending into the attic of the building.

Fortunately, no occupants were present in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported among firefighters or civilians.

David Bracken has recently released his unique reimagining of the song “See Amid the Winter’s Snow.” When asked about his inspiration, David shared how he had never heard the song before. 

 “I was doing worship relief for a church in Winnipeg and stumbled upon this hymn while searching for music to perform. I had never heard it before, but its lyrics struck me as both timeless and powerful,” he explained.

After blowing away the audience on Season 26 of The Voice, 14-year-old Jaukeem Fortson is preparing for a very special performance.

While on the popular reality singing show, Fortson wowed the crowd  by singing  for King & Country's "God Only Knows."

Snoop Dog and Michael Bublé could be seen lifting their hands in worship, while Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani were almost brought to tears. 

With employees in limbo, TikTok hoping for 'solution' to Ottawa's shutdown order

The Liberal government’s move to order the shutdown of TikTok’s Canadian operations over national security concerns has left hundreds of the company’s Canadian employees in limbo. 

Ottawa hasn't publicly specified the date by which TikTok has to comply, and while the company has pledged to fight the order in court, it's also talking to the government in hopes of finding a "solution."

Canada Post warns no end in sight for strike after receiving latest union proposals

As the Canada Post strike involving more than 55,000 workers neared the end of its 25th day, the postal service warned that a speedy resolution is unlikely. 

In a statement Monday, Canada Post said the latest proposals from the union widen the gap between the two parties, claiming the union has in some cases increased its demands.

Chasah, or refuge, is a word that's needed when a nation finds itself shaking on the rock. The news of tragic events in our country and our world is enough to grab you by the neck and make you tremble. Several years ago, I found myself not sleeping very well due to some of these events—that is, until I remembered Psalm 46 and called to mind my chasah, "a very present help in trouble."
