RCMP say no charges to be laid in bus crash that killed 17 seniors heading to casino

Police will not be laying charges in a bus crash that killed 17 people in western Manitoba.

RCMP say they do not expect to be able to talk to the bus driver, who was severely injured in the crash.

And they say officers have found no explanation as to why he pulled into an intersection when it wasn't safe.

The bus, carrying seniors to a casino, collided with a semi-trailer while crossing the Trans-Canada Highway near the town of Carberry last June.

Ukraine Baptists seek one-on-one church partnerships to rebuild

Igor Bandura remembers how Southern Baptists helped Ukrainian Baptists expand their reach after independence from Russia in 1991. He hopes for something of a repeat when the current war with Russia ends.

“When freedom came, many churches from the Southern Baptist Convention started to come, send teams, and there were partnerships between” state conventions and specific areas of Ukraine, recalls Bandura, vice president of the All-Ukrainian Union of Churches of Evangelical Christians-Baptists (Ukraine Baptist Union).

Requirements for victory

1 John 5:4-7

According to Scripture, three things are required for spiritual victory: birth, faith, and truth. In order to enter into the ranks of the victorious, we must be "born of God." It occurs when I accept Jesus Christ as Saviour.

Then comes faith. I draw upon the power that is in me. I no longer operate on the basis of human strength, but by faith. I rely upon divine power.

Then is truth. Everything is made possible by the truth, by believing the truth, by living the truth. Allow the truth to invade, reshape, and cultivate your life anew.

Cargill Dunlop beef strike is a growing concern

Canada's beef sector would like to see an end to the labour dispute at the Cargill Dunlop facility in Guelph.

The Canadian Cattle Association (CCA), National Cattle Feeders’ Association (NCFA) and Beef Farmers of Ontario note that the beef sector relies on a resilient processing industry across the country.

Members of UFCW Local 175 walked off the job in May, and there are no signs of an immediate resolution.

The Cargill Dunlop facility is the major processing facility for Canada’s largest fed-cattle region after Alberta.
