Spirit of the season shines bright as Salvation Army benefits
The spirit of giving was strong this holiday season in Swift Current and the effects were felt especially by the local Salvation Army.
Captain Ian Scott details this season's successes.
"We were able to serve about 470 families that came for toys and food. We had well over 500 children come through this year which is a significant increase but we had enough. And we had more than enough to serve those that come, even the teenagers they all got something."
Captain Scott also reveals that they exceeded their fundraising goals this holiday season.
Eventful year for Swift Current in 2024
While there were many construction and financial highlights for the city in 2024, Swift Current also saw a number of successful events and programs.
Perhaps one of the biggest events was the November city election where Mayor Al Bridal was acclaimed for which he says he is thankful and appreciative to the citizens of Swift Current and the election also saw four incumbents voted back in as well as four new council members.
This year saw a very successful Market Square season as Mayor Al Bridal explains.

Salvation Army seeking Christmas kettle volunteers
The holiday season will quickly be upon us and the local Salvation Army are looking for volunteers to help make the season bright.
Volunteers are being sought to fill a number of kettle shifts as Captain Ian Scott with the Salvation Army explains.
"This is one of the times of the year that we get to engage with the community. So alot of folks enjoy coming out and taking a two-hour shift on the kettles and seeing friends, family and the other shoppers. So were just asking if people are interested in standing for two hours on a kettle shift."
A win and a loss on day two of Country Cash Corral
It was a busy morning on Country 94.1 yesterday as Chris Martens gave two lucky qualifiers the chance to win some cold hard cash.
First up was Dustin who chose to gamble his $94 on one of our bulls and that proved to be profitable for him as he won himself a fantastic prize from one of our sponsors CMX and walked away with a fantastic set of grilling gloves and seasoning kit including bbq sauce and rubs.
