Although the weather this weekend may not be sunny and plus 30 there is no bad time to camp if you come prepared according to Shauna Smuk Regional Director for the Southwest with Sask Parks.

Smuk adds that all parks are looking forward to visitors arriving this weekend for their opening weekend.

There are currently no fire restrictions in place at the parks for this weekend but Smuk points out that even when restrictions are in place, campers can still use gas bbq's, pressurized stoves and propane fire pits.

In terms of new additions for camper this season, Smuk says several areas have new fixed roof accomodations including new tee pee style cabins at Buffalo Pound.

Visitors are also reminded of the discovery packs and recreation packs available for use as well. Discovery packs are independent packs that family's can take out to discover the parks at their leisure. New packs this year include "Marvelous Mammals", "Junior Ecologist Aquatic Adventure and "Soil Scientists" to name a few.

Recreation packs can be picked up at visitor centers and come with everything needed to participate in a variety of recreational hobbies including volleyball and birding.

According to a press release from Sask Parks, favorites like SaskExpress and Summer Cinema are returning for another season along with new experiences such as Festival in the Forest at Meadow Lake, Prairie Day at Buffalo Pound and new guided hiking events at Cypress Hills and Candle Lake.
