Fetch a Friend - Sunset & Dusk

Two fluffy siblings with big personalities are hoping to land their forever homes through KC Rescue.

The four-month-old kittens, Sunset and Dusk, are adorable voids with coats that aren’t quite solid black, faint grey tabby stripes shine through, giving them a unique, almost exotic look.

Dusk, a neutered male, is the bold one of the pair. He loves to explore and play but still enjoys slowing down and cuddling up for a nap. Sunset is the independent sibling and takes a little longer to warm up, but once she does, she’s happy to snuggle in close.

More funding available through Alberta's Feeder Associations Loan Guarantee Program

Agriculture and Irrigation Minister RJ Sigurdson has announced an increase in the lending limit on the Feeder Associations Loan Guarantee Program (FALGP).

Locally owned feeder associations utilize the program for low-interest financing backed by a government guarantee. Through the program feeder associations help livestock producers get financing to buy animals and grow their herds.

Producer, Dustin Lamb says the program played a huge part in his decision to return to the family farm and will be instrumental in keeping it going.

A man from Tramping Lake stood trial in Kindersley provincial court this week, arguing the RCMP violated his Charter rights during his arrest.

The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 30, 2024, in Kerrobert.

West Central harvest going slow as farmers ramp up activity this long weekend

Harvest is continuing to move along at a slow pace around West Central with only six per cent of the regional crop reported out of the ground.

That number might be among the lowest in the province, and a far cry from the nearby southwest who lead the province at 23 per cent of the crops off, but it does have to do with a lack of field activity. The only regions behind are the northeast at three per cent, and the northwest at two per cent, and then going up the list the east-central region is 11 per cent done, trailing the southeast at 14 per cent done.

One last splash: Eston hosting final day pool party amid heat wave

West Central residents should know how to keep cool by now after a week of sweltering conditions around the region.

When we spoke with Environment Canada meteorologist Crawford Luke earlier in the week, he shared a fool proof way to beat the heat.

"If you are able to go for a quick jump in a lake, or a pool, that is always a fantastic way to cool off if you have that of access," said Luke, as a backyard pool would work too for anyone who hasn't taken it down.
