Adam Manastryski, late of Arcola, Sask. passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Arcola Hospital at the age of 90 years.
The public Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Arcola Cemetery, Arcola, Saskatchewan with Sandy Dalziel officiating. Everyone is welcome to join the family at the Arcola Optimist Legion Hall following the service.

OM Yoga Festival welcomes yoga enthusiasts for fifth annual festival

From acro yoga flips to aerial swings, meditation circles, and live music, Woodlawn Park became a weekend playground for yoga enthusiasts from across Canada at the fifth annual OM Yoga Festival.

“After COVID, many events were cancelled or postponed, so being one of the few yoga festivals happening in Canada right now really drew people in,” said Kim Mayuk, founder of OM Yoga Studio. “Many attendees are already planning to return next year.”

Council presses for developer-led engagement as Wellock Road rezoning remains on hold

Estevan City Council has tabled the rezoning bylaw for a proposed multi-unit development along Wellock Road, asking for more information and greater community engagement before moving forward.

Verity Developments and Essex Developments, partners on a proposed multi-unit housing project in The Meadows subdivision. Originally the zoning application was to re-zone the 25 R1 lots on Wellock Road to R4 and plan to build 7 buildings. The buildings are 12-plexes.

Harvest is rolling along smoothly for Kelly Ashworth and the crew at Ashworth Farm and Ranch near Oungre.

“We just finished the Durham up and had our lentils done a little earlier,” said Ashworth. “Just starting on canola now, so it’s rolling along.”

While some wet straw has slowed things down slightly, the grain itself has been coming off dry. “The straw is still quite wet. It seems dry in the grain, but it’s a little at the straw,” he explained. Even so, Ashworth said yields have been strong. “Yeah, they’re actually good. We don’t have any complaints.”

Federal government says it has found almost 500 ways to cut red tape

The federal government says it has found almost 500 ways to streamline regulations and cut costs following a 60-day red tape review exercise.

Departments and agencies have published reports identifying measures to make them more efficient and eliminate complicated or redundant regulations or processes.

Examples include a Canada Border Services Agency proposal to end the rule requiring that travellers arriving in Canada only on their way to another country, be examined by the agency before making their way to their departing flight.

Record turnout for Parent-Child Tournament at Woodlawn Golf Club

The 42nd Annual Parent Child Tournament at TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club saw one of its biggest turnouts yet, with 79 teams taking part on Sunday, September 7. The event, which has been a long-standing tradition in Estevan, featured families of all ages enjoying a day on the course under warm and pleasant weather conditions.
