Hamiota's Kirk thrilled after trade lands him closer to home with Titans
The MJHL's Neepawa Titans swung a deal that adds 20-year-old Ty Kirk to their team for the upcoming season and the Hamiota product couldn't be happier to be playing closer to home.
"It was a really exciting moment," Kirk says about finding out he was being traded to Neepawa. "It was all fast and smooth. Thrilled to be closer to home with my family being able to watch me more, it'll be good."

Carney says Middle East 'highly volatile' after U.S. strikes Iran, calls for calm
Prime Minister Mark Carney is calling for de-escalation after the United States carried out strikes against Iranian nuclear sites early Sunday.
Carney issued a social media post saying the U.S. military action was "designed to alleviate" threats posed by Iran, but the situation in the Middle East remains "highly volatile."
He says stability in the region is a priority and is calling on parties to get back to the negotiating table to find a diplomatic solution.

First Nations youth say they're 'starting a movement' against major projects bills
First Nations youth leaders are warning Canadians can expect a long, tense summer of protests as governments push forward with plans to fast-track major projects — and young people will be leading the charge.
"You will see us in your cities, your city's hubs," said Ramon Kataquapit, a youth councillor with the Chiefs of Ontario and Nishnawbe Aski Nation and a member of Attawapiskat First Nation in northern Ontario.

Decades of Dedication: Local Communities sustain global impact through foodgrains projects
Dale Friesen has been making his rounds to all the different Canadian Foodgrains partner communities in Manitoba and northern Ontario. In Manitoba alone, there are about 35 fundraiser projects that include grow projects that equal some 4,000 acres - not to mention community auction sales, concerts and more.
Here in the southwestern corner of the province we are very familiar with the Boissevain-Morton-Whitewater (B.M.W.) Grow Project, and the Killarney Grow Project. Further west is the Waskada fundraising auction and further still is the Cross Border Growing Project at Kola.
Mentorship in the Wild: BOW weekend celebrates women teaching women with the MWF
Every year at the end of May the Manitoba Wildlife Federation (MWF) hosts their annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman weekend retreat at Circle Square Ranch.
This year, with 80 registered participants and over 20 instructors, they had about a hundred women come together to learn, to laugh and to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. It was a hot weekend May 30-June 1st but these gals took the heat in stride as they learned multiple skills in a variety of interests.
Ninette celebrates 70 years of bringing the Fair to town
Last weekend the Pelican Lake Ag Society hosted their 70th Ninette Fair with success every which way you could look at it; with beautiful weather to an amazing number of attendees, participants and even about 50 volunteers who dedicated their time to helping the two-day fair be a hit!
