Steffen Skjottelvik, 29, was on a cross-continental journey of the Canadian wilderness when he set out on foot with his two dogs from Fort Severn, Ont., to York Factory, Man., last month.
He was expected to arrive in York Factory on Aug. 15 but never made it.
Police had said Skjottelvik may have tried to cross the swift-moving Hayes River and got swept up.

On August 25th at 11:30AM police were called to the 100 block of Regent Crescent due to an intoxicated male on the property who was refusing to leave. The 26-year-old male was highly intoxicated and taken into custody. He stayed in BPS detention cells until sober.

Portage la Prairie RCMP seek public’s assistance after attempted break and enter
On August 8, 2025, at approximately 6:20 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP were dispatched to a report of a break and enter on Royal Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they were advised by the residents that two male suspects who stated they were RCMP officers asked them to open the door.
The suspects then tried to push their way inside, breaking a door and a window on the porch of the residence. After not gaining entry, they fled in a white sedan.
