Volunteers are needed to help build Boissevain School's new middle years playground, says fundraising committee members Heather Janssens and Susan Jackson.
'The Boissevain School Playground Committee is beyond excited to announce we are at the ‘building stage’ of phase one of the Boissevain School Playground Project. A Certified Playground Install Supervisor will be on site to lead the build, and we need volunteers to help during the week of July 21-26!'
Brandon adds swim times at Sportsplex as Kinsmen Pool repairs continue
The opening of the outdoor Kinsmen pool has been postponed due to mechanical issues.
The pool, which is 57 years old, was initially scheduled to open in mid-June. However, prior to the opening day, crews observed a 6-inch loss of water overnight and identified circulation problems.
Subsequent tests and inspections revealed multiple cracks in the circulation pipes. Following continued testing and inspections, crews are continuing efforts to repair the pool to try and get it operational for the season.

Ruth Enns nee Giesbrecht, 98, of Saskatoon formerly of Altona, passed away Wednesday, July 2nd at Warman Special Care Home. She is survived by 5 daughters, 3 sons, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband John.
The celebration of life for Ruth Enns nee Giesbrecht will be held Thursday, July 10th at 2:30pm at Neubergthal Commons Barn with burial prior to the service at 1:30pm at Weidenfeld Cemetery.

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand is headed off to Japan and Malaysia as the Carney government shapes its diplomatic and trade approach to the Indo-Pacific region.
Anand will meet with her Japanese counterpart in Tokyo this week as the two finalize an agreement on sharing defence information and boosting trade.
On Thursday and Friday, Anand will take part in a meeting with the Association of South East Asian Nations, or ASEAN, in Malaysia.

Why Canada may not be ready for 'new reality' of flash flooding and severe storms
Ryan Ness of the Canadian Climate Institute says he's been following the "terrible tragedy" of deadly flash flooding unfolding in Texas, where more than 100 people have died.
But he's also worried Canada isn't doing enough to prevent such disasters here, saying the country needs to invest in flood mapping, infrastructure and early warning systems.
"Luckily, there are many ways that we can protect ourselves, but we have to make the effort," said Ness, who is the research director for adaptation at the policy research organization.
Statistics Canada posts 2026 Ag Census questionnaire
The 2026 Census of Agriculture questionnaire has now been published on the Statistics Canada website.
The census is conducted every five years with the last Agriculture Census being done in 2021.
For the 2026 Census of Agriculture, new categories have been added under the commodity questions to identify emerging agricultural products.
Questions on agricultural practices have been expanded to include environmental practices and environmental sustainability.
