New garbage truck comes with a bigger price tag than city council had expected
A new garbage truck is costing more than what the City of Steinbach had anticipated.
Council had $320,000 in the budget for the replacement vehicle and had to dip into a reserve fund to make the purchase.
Councillor Damian Penner made the motion at a recent meeting to award the tender to Shu-Pak Equipment Inc. at a cost of $362,730.
Despite severe frost this week, many corn fields are still viable
Recent frost has damaged some corn fields with Blumenort and Giroux areas being hit the hardest.
Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed Rep. Marc Hutlet has toured some fields and says it appears those areas saw a killing frost while crops in other areas had mostly leaf damage.

Hill says the job market is very competitive right now and that means he will have to work hard to find new members who want to work in our province and retain employees who are already serving in Manitoba.
