Happy Cat Society starts fundraiser for kitten in need
The Happy Cat Sanctuary Society of Alberta has begun a fundraiser to help a sick kitten.
The society created a GoFundMe for Stapler, a tiny kitten who came to Happy Cat showing signs of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). This infection begins with cold-like symptoms before developing muscle weakness, shortness of breath, and paralysis.

Fireworks show coming to Strathmore Ag Grounds
A fireworks show is running at the Strathmore Ag Grounds on Tuesday (Dec. 31) night.
According to the Strathmore & District Agricultural Society, they will wrap up the holidays with a Kids' New Year's Eve Party, complete with an elaborate fireworks display.
The party runs from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a balloon drop set at 7:45 p.m., just before the fireworks.
The event runs alongside the Celebration of Lights, which began on November 30 following the Santa Claus Parade in downtown Strathmore. The celebration's first day also featured fireworks.

Dangerous Person Alert ends after suspect found dead
The Dangerous Person Alert issued by Calgary Police on Monday (Dec. 30) ended just a few hours after it was announced.
According to police, they were searching Calgary and the surrounding area for 38-year-old Benedict Kaminski, who was believed to be involved in a double homicide that occurred on Sunday.
The alert was issued at around noon, and just after 4:30 p.m., it was announced that police located Kaminski deceased.
The cause of Kaminski's death was not announced.
New clinic opens at Strathmore pharmacy
A new clinic arrived in Strathmore on Thursday (Dec. 26).
Remedy's Rx & Valley Medical Pharmacy announced that they have opened a Pharmacy Care Clinic at their Strathmore location.
"This clinic is designed to provide high-quality, accessible care to help our community live life well," wrote the pharmacy.
Chinese-Russian air co-operation has Norad’s "full attention"
The head of the North American Aerospace Defence Command says Chinese and Russian air co-operation in the Arctic has Norad's "full attention."
Those two countries for the first time staged a joint patrol in the Arctic near the coast of Alaska last July.
U.S. Gen. Gregory Guillot told The Canadian Press in a year interview that it potentially takes decades for two nations’ militaries to reach "full integration" at a level like the U.S. and Canada.

Rosalynn Carter died last year at age 96, and the former president has been in home hospice care for 19 months in his hometown of Plains, Ga.
How to get rid of natural Christmas trees after the holidays
With the holidays ending, it's time to start taking down the Christmas tree.
However, those with natural trees will need to wait a few weeks before they're picked up and disposed of.
According to the Town of Strathmore, a collection crew will begin picking up trees during the third week of January.
The town asks that you remove all decorations from the tree and place it outside on your regular garbage collection day.
