Brooks RCMP respond to serious car crash
Brooks RCMP are on scene at a serious car crash.
According to police, the collision was on Highway 1 near Range Road 131 near Tilley on Monday (Aug. 25).
"Eastbound traffic flow is restricted to one lane while emergency crews work on scene," wrote RCMP in a news release.

"This has become a full-time job. I'm very passionate about this," the former Progressive Conservative deputy premier said in Edmonton last week.
As people trickled in and out of a local legion, a table full of volunteers helped them officially put their name to Lukaszuk's cause.
"When we get to 300,000 signatures, believe it or not, this will be the biggest petition in the history of Canada," said Lukaszuk.
In Kyiv, Carney not ruling out Canadian troops in Ukraine if peace deal reached
Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada could deploy military troops to Ukraine as part of an eventual security guarantee against Russia.
Carney made the remarks at a joint news conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a meeting between the two.leaders in Kyiv, where the prime minister made an unannounced stop Sunday.
When asked what kind of security guarantees Canada could provide to Ukraine, Carney said Ukraine's own military must be supported but that more than that will be required.
"I would not exclude the presence of troops," he said.

Employees at the Canada Border Services Agency and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service are the least likely to recommend their office as a great place to work, a survey of federal public servants suggests.
The 2024 Public Service Employee Survey asked federal government employees a range of questions about their satisfaction with their workplace, including about their leadership, well-being and compensation.
One question asked public servants if they would recommend their department or agency as a "great place to work."

Heat warnings expected in Strathmore: Environment Canada
It's about to get hot in Strathmore and the surrounding area.
Environment Canada (EC) issued a Special Weather Statement for Wheatland County on Sunday (Aug. 24). The statement also affects Strathmore, Lyalta, and Carseland.
"A long-duration heat event is expected over the next seven days," wrote Environment Canada. "Daytime high temperatures between 29C and 33C are expected beginning today for communities over central and northern Alberta, and will expand to include portions of southern Alberta starting on Monday."
Strathmore Spartans kick off first game of regular season
The Strathmore Spartans senior boys football team are in Lethbridge for their first game of the season.
After beginning practice on Aug. 16, the Spartans will be taking on the Catholic Central Cougars on Saturday (Aug. 23).
"The team has been looking sharp these last couple of days," said head coach Danny Warrack. "They're mentally engaged and focused, so I'm expecting a good result."
The Spartans opened last season against the Cougars, as well, with the Spartans losing 35-0.
Brooks RCMP identify human remains as missing woman
Brooks RCMP have identified the human remains that were discovered on Wednesday (Aug. 20).
According to police, the deceased was identified as 20-year-old Fatima Ahmed, a Brooks resident who was reported missing on Aug. 15.
An autopsy was performed on Friday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the cause of death is pending.
Police say the investigation into Ahmed's death continues.
Over $4,300 raised through Home Runs for Huntington's
The annual Home Runs for Huntington's baseball tournament raised thousands of dollars for a family in need.
The event took place at the Kinsmen Park ball diamond on Saturday (Aug. 16), with hundreds of residents taking part in the tournament.
In total, $4,386.50 was raised through a variety of methods, with the funds going towards the Huntington Society of Canada and the family of Greg Belton, a Strathmore resident who was diagnosed with Huntington's disease.
