Update: Crash closes section of Deerfoot southbound, detours in place
A previous motor vehicle collision on Deerfoot southbound that had shut down a portion of the road has since been cleared.
Calgary police noted that the road reopened at approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday.
Previously, southbound Deerfoot Trail Southeast was closed between 17 Avenue Southeast and Peigan Trail Southeast. Motorists were asked to use alternative routes.
A detour occurred at 17 Avenue. There is no word on the cause of the single-vehicle collision or if any injuries were sustained.
Another lane closure is happening on one of Airdrie's busiest roads
A temporary lane closure will occur today on Main Street South.

According to the City of Airdrie, the temporary northbound lane closure accommodates manhole maintenance.
The closure will only be on Thursday; however, motorists should be aware of other major lane and road closures.
Update: Smash-up north of Airdrie causing delays on QEII
A motor vehicle collision heading northbound on the QEII, near Highway 581, just east of Carstairs, has been cleared.
Motorists reported delays and congestion in the area. Emergency crews were also reported to be on the scene.
There was no word on injuries.

Update: Airdrie motorists warned of collision near 40th Avenue overpass
An earlier motor vehicle collision heading southbound on the QEII, just after the 40th Avenue Overpass, has been cleared.
Motorists reported a collision on the left-hand side. Emergency crews were reported to be on the scene.
Motorists can also expect further delays as the bridge repairs on the Veterans Boulevard (Highway 567) bridge over the QEII have begun. The repairs will be ongoing until November 1 and are expected to impact traffic in Airdrie significantly.

Update: Multi-vehicle collision north of Airdrie slowing down Monday traffic
A multi-vehicle collision north of Airdrie, heading southbound on the QEII near the Olds overpass, has been cleared.
Motorists reported that the collision was blocking the left-hand lane and that there were delays in the area.
There were no other details regarding the collision, including if any injuries were sustained.

What are the province's next steps for photo radar on our roads and highways?
The Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, Devin Dreeshan, confirmed that over the summer, Transportation and Economic Corridors engaged with municipalities and law enforcement to eliminate photo radar ‘fishing hole’ locations (defined by the province as areas where photo radar is focused on revenue generation rather than traffic safety).
This news comes nearly one year after the government announced that it would work with municipalities and law enforcement to remove all fishing hole locations across the province.
Update: Major collision west of Airdrie – Highway closed
A motor vehicle collision west of Airdrie and north of Cochrane that had previously closed down a portion of the highway has been cleared.
According to reports, the collision was on Highway 22 near Highway 567. Motorists were urged to use alternate routes as emergency crews were on the scene.
There is no word on injuries. However, STARS air ambulance indicated that they had been dispatched to an emergency call in the Cochrane area, though it is unclear if they are responding to the collision.
New date set for lane closures associated with Airdrie bridge repairs
The City of Airdrie has provided an update regarding the bridge repairs on Veterans Boulevard (Highway 567), initially slated to begin this week.
Three lives lost over long weekend as RCMP record 1,982 traffic offences
Alberta Mounties recorded 1,982 traffic safety infractions over the Labour Day long weekend (August 30 - September 2).
"Of the 1,982 tickets issued, 990 were for speeding, 35 for distracted driving, and 55 were issued for not wearing a seatbelt," RCMP stated.
Additionally, 92 drug or alcohol-impaired drivers were removed from the roads.
"Unfortunately, due to road-related incidents, there were two fatal motor vehicle collisions resulting in three deaths," police added.
