WWI veteran and former mayor's house up for sale
A historical home in Fort Saskatchewan has gone up for sale.
A house on 103 Street was once the residence of Dick Mager, who served as mayor from 1943 until 1950.
Mager immigrated to the Fort from England in the early 1900s. He served in WWI where he worked as a sapper — a person responsible for digging trenches as well as finding and disarming enemy bombs.
Locals may also recognize the name from a park on 101 Avenue named in his honour.

Canada is blazing a trail in wetland restoration.
With the support of conservation organizations like Ducks Unlimited Canada, some of these wetlands are being put back on the landscape.

"We ran 3000 heads of cattle, rode horses, [we were] real McCoy cowboys," said Horne. "The neighbour, Raymond, his boys were playing hockey...we were bantam age, so the boys were starting to grow, and my teeth were right at that elbow level."
"I was starting to get the snot beat out of me a bit."

Saying goodbye to Fort Saskatchewan's home decor hub
After almost three years in Fort Saskatchewan, The Barn Door is closing.
"Unfortunately, though, some good things must come to an end." said owner Jackie Switzer on a Facebook post where she announced the closure.
The Barn Door came to Fort back in early 2020 as Switzer's passion project. The store sells a variety of home decor in several styles.
"I sell vintage, I sell furniture, candles, Christmas, lotions, pillows, you name it, we probably have it here," Switzer said.
