A historical home in Fort Saskatchewan has gone up for sale.
A house on 103 Street was once the residence of Dick Mager, who served as mayor from 1943 until 1950.
Mager immigrated to the Fort from England in the early 1900s. He served in WWI where he worked as a sapper — a person responsible for digging trenches as well as finding and disarming enemy bombs.
Locals may also recognize the name from a park on 101 Avenue named in his honour.
Mager passed away in Fort Saskatchewan at the age of 85 in 1975. He was survived by his wife, Mary, who was the curator of the local museum. She continued to live in the house until her death in 2004.
Since then, the home has been abandoned and is now up for sale.
The realtor was not able to give a quote on the cost of the property.
