Who's in and who's out as Conservative party critics under Poilievre's leadership

In an effort to send a message of unity, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has welcomed two former leadership rivals to serve as critics in Parliament — but he has also left out two of the party's more prominent names.

Ontario members of Parliament Scott Aitchison and Leslyn Lewis are among the group of 51 Tory MPs chosen to go head-to-head with Liberal government ministers on certain files, according to a list Poilievre's office released Wednesday.

But well-known caucus members Ed Fast and Michelle Rempel Garner are off the list.

Dormant seeding forages can be a good option

Seeding forages in the fall can be a good alternative to spring or summer seeding.

Range Management Specialist Paige Straf says timing is critical with dormant seeding.

"A good rule of thumb is to seed forages when the average daily air temperature are at five degrees Celsius or less. Ideally producers should target for soil temperatures that are less than two degrees Celsius."

She notes if you seed before the soil temperatures are low enough, seeds will take on moisture, can start to germinate, and can get killed off by the cold winter temperatures.

Will the CP Holiday Train be returning to the area in December?

Colton Dach named captain of WHL team

The Dach brothers continue to make Fort Saskatchewan proud.

The Kelowna Rockets of the WHL announced on Tuesday (Oct. 11) that Fort Saskatchewan native Colton Dach will serve as their captain for the 2022-23 season.

The announcement comes after a hectic start to Dach's season. He attended an NHL rookie camp for the Chicago Blackhawks last month and suffered a concussion that caused him to miss the majority of training camp. He was able to appear in just one NHL preseason game.

The Blackhawks assigned him back to juniors last Friday.
