Championship action continues at Humboldt Golf Club on day two
The second day of the 2025 Saskatchewan Amateur Golf Championships brought more top-tier golf to the Humboldt Golf Club, as the women wrapped up their second round and the men continued their push. With players navigating one of the province’s more distinctive layouts, the course once again proved both challenging and rewarding.
Humboldt Golf Club Vice President Dave Hill noted that the club’s unique layout is playing a significant role in shaping the leaderboard.
18U & 15U 57's play tonight
The Swift Current Kale Tire 18U AAA 57's fell 15-4 to the White Butte Broncos last night.
Wesley Olson went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Swift Current in a losing cause.
They've now dropped four of their last five games.
Swift Current hosts the Saskatoon Diamondbacks for a doubleheader tonight.
Meanwhile, the Argue Law 15U AAA 57's are in Saskatoon to play the Astros.
57's start series with Weyburn
The Swift Current 57's head on the road for the start of four straight WCBL games against Weyburn.
It begins with a doubleheader between the two clubs from Tom Laing Park tonight.
They then play another game in Weyburn tomorrow before the 57's host the Beavers on Friday.
Weyburn is a game and a half ahead of Swift Current for 5th in the East Division.
The 57's are looking to snap a five-game losing skid.
Local golfers led early at Sask Amateur
A pair of southwest Saskatchewan players jumped into the lead in the Saskatchewan Amateur Championship at the Humboldt Golf Club.
Kyle's Chloe Wills opened the 54-hole tournament yesterday by shooting 3-under.
She finished the first day four shots ahead of Yorkton's Ella Kozak.
Swift Current's Corey Bailey leads the men's championship after shooting an 8-under 64 yesterday.
The second day of the event is underway.

The Unity Cardinals overcame a slow start on Tuesday night in Mervin to earn a first round North Saskatchewan River Baseball League series sweep.
The top-seed Cardinals wound up winning 17-7 after a mercy win in Game 1, and next up is a battle of the birds, a series against the #4 seed Lashburn Cardinals set to begin soon.
Miller Express lose to Weyburn Beavers in extra innings
The Moose Jaw Miller Express dropped a 5-4 decision in extra innings to the Weyburn Beavers on Tuesday night at Ross Wells Park.
After three scoreless innings, Moose Jaw opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth when Eduardo Saenz hit a solo home run to make it 1-0.
Weyburn took the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. Moose Jaw answered in the bottom half when Austin Gurney grounded into a double play, allowing Ben Waliczek to score and tie the game.
The Beavers went up 4-2 after eight innings.
Cartwright Twins still the team to beat in the Border Baseball League
It's been an incredible run for the Cartwright Twins the last few seasons in the Border Baseball League, and player/manager Drew Haight believes the group is poised to do it again.
With playoffs in full swing, Haight says this is the time of year the team really looks forward to. "We love it," he says with a laugh. "Every year, you play the regular season, and those games are fun, but you're always working toward the playoffs. This time of year, we tend to try and bring out 'A' game every night and it's the time you want to be playing."
U15 Steinbach Pioneers claim Tier 1 Provincial Championship
Capping off a strong season, the U15 Steinbach Pioneers won the provincial championship and coach Kevin Verestiuk couldn't be prouder of the group.
"It's been a great year," Verestiuk says smiling. "The boys had a lot of fun and with that, came a lot of success right to the end. Proud of the group and all the work they put in to be successful this year."
Cochrane track standout prepares for Summer Games, commits to Dalhousie track
The success of Cochrane’s rising track star Elise Hagen continues to build momentum.
The 18-year-old is bound for the Canada Summer Games this August in St. John’s, N.L., where she’ll compete in the 400 metres for Team Alberta. She’s one of two local athletes named to the provincial squad. Two others are alternates.
After the Games, she’ll head to Dalhousie University in Halifax, where she’s been recruited to run for the Tigers while pursuing a science degree.
