57's can't get bats going in Fort McMurray

The bats got quieted again as the Swift Current 57's fell on the road in WCBL action last night.

Jose Ayala went 2 for 3, but the 57's managed only 5 hits in a 6-0 loss to Fort McMurray.

Swift Current's run production has slowed with only 2 scored in 2 games on this road swing so far, compared to 40 runs in their previous 2 games.

Hunter Mark struggled early on the mound, walking 4 batters and getting down 5-0 in the first inning.

Luke Reasor then pitched 5 innings of shutout relief to give Swift Current a chance.

Local group offers tennis, soccer, & fun for all ages

A chance to stay active this summer in Swift Current has cropped up with camps and lessons geared toward a multitude of ages and a wide range of skills.

The Tennis Association of Swift Current is preparing for the summer camps to take place at Riverside Park in July and August, including Kids Tennis & Soccer Camps for two different age categories and Learn To Play Tennis lessons for adults.

Kimberly Hartwig, head coach for the Tennis Association of Swift Current, shared that the camps are a great way to introduce a new sport, get moving, and improve skills.

Lacombe baseball team captures meaningful title

A Lacombe minor baseball team has won a championship — a victory that meant a lot more for some players, who captured the title in their final season before graduating.

The Lacombe Dodgers Blue beat the Red Deer Rangers 1 by a score of 18–3 to claim the 18U Central Alberta Baseball League (CABL) Tier 1 championship on their home field at Michener Park on Sunday.

The game ended early due to the possibility of a rainout, but the chance of showers didn’t dampen their joy, according to Dodgers head coach Jaden Etson.

U17 Sonic score comeback win in Moose Jaw Ladies Fastball League

The Swift Current U17 Sonic scored a late-inning victory in the Moose Jaw Ladies Fastball League Tuesday night.

Taking on the Moose Jaw Heat, Swift Current plated two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 9-8 lead and held on for the win.

Brynn Haubrich, Bree Pavely, and Lyla Thiessen all had three hits and scored at least two runs for the Sonic.

Pavely also tossed five innings of two-run ball with four strikeouts. 

Full 2025-26 Red Wings schedule released

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings will open the 2025-26 season on September 19th, when they host the Yorkton Terriers at Crescent Point Place.  

The SJHL released the full schedule for the upcoming season Wednesday afternoon, with each team playing a balanced 56-game schedule. For the Red Wings, their defense of the Viterra Division pennant will start with a home-and-home against the Terriers, with the second half being played September 20th in Yorkton.  

Wolverines and October home games lead Klippers' 2025–26 slate

The 2025-2026 schedule was released for all twelve Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League teams on Wednesday, after the SJHL gave a sneak peek with various home openers on Monday.

The Klippers open the season on Friday, September 19 in the Battlefords, then return home Saturday to host the North Stars and wrap up their annual opening home-and-home. Another key series comes the following weekend, with the Warman Wolverines visiting Kindersley on Friday, September 26, before the Klippers head to Warman the next night for a second straight home-and-home.

"Almost back," Agra Risk Wheatland Kings anticipate preseason return

The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings have announced when their preseason begins for the 2025/26 season.

According to a social media post made on Tuesday (June 24), the Kings announced that they'll be returning Sept. 5 for a game against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder. The Kings have their first home game set for the following day against the Thunder at the Strathmore Family Centre.

Last season was historic for the Kings, with them breaking the franchise record for total wins in a season, while also making it further into the playoffs than ever before.

Miller Express losing skid reaches three games

The Moose Jaw Miller Express's losing streak was extended to three games after dropping a 9-1 decision on the road against the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Tuesday night.

Moose Jaw's lone run came in the top of the first inning. William Edwards hit a double to score Thomas Soto from third base.

Sylvan Lake would tie up the game in the bottom of the first before scoring eight unanswered runs.

A strong performance by the Gulls' pitching staff allowed only four Moose Jaw hits in the entire game.
