Full 2025-26 Red Wings schedule released

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings will open the 2025-26 season on September 19th, when they host the Yorkton Terriers at Crescent Point Place.  

The SJHL released the full schedule for the upcoming season Wednesday afternoon, with each team playing a balanced 56-game schedule. For the Red Wings, their defense of the Viterra Division pennant will start with a home-and-home against the Terriers, with the second half being played September 20th in Yorkton.  

Wolverines and October home games lead Klippers' 2025–26 slate

The 2025-2026 schedule was released for all twelve Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League teams on Wednesday, after the SJHL gave a sneak peek with various home openers on Monday.

The Klippers open the season on Friday, September 19 in the Battlefords, then return home Saturday to host the North Stars and wrap up their annual opening home-and-home. Another key series comes the following weekend, with the Warman Wolverines visiting Kindersley on Friday, September 26, before the Klippers head to Warman the next night for a second straight home-and-home.

"Almost back," Agra Risk Wheatland Kings anticipate preseason return

The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings have announced when their preseason begins for the 2025/26 season.

According to a social media post made on Tuesday (June 24), the Kings announced that they'll be returning Sept. 5 for a game against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder. The Kings have their first home game set for the following day against the Thunder at the Strathmore Family Centre.

Last season was historic for the Kings, with them breaking the franchise record for total wins in a season, while also making it further into the playoffs than ever before.

Miller Express losing skid reaches three games

The Moose Jaw Miller Express's losing streak was extended to three games after dropping a 9-1 decision on the road against the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Tuesday night.

Moose Jaw's lone run came in the top of the first inning. William Edwards hit a double to score Thomas Soto from third base.

Sylvan Lake would tie up the game in the bottom of the first before scoring eight unanswered runs.

A strong performance by the Gulls' pitching staff allowed only four Moose Jaw hits in the entire game.

Cochrane’s Sarah Wozniewicz drafted to PWHL Ottawa

Cochrane’s own Sarah Wozniewicz is heading to the pros! The 21-year-old forward was selected in the third round, fifth overall by the Ottawa Charge in the 2025 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft, marking a major milestone in her impressive hockey journey.

From her early days on the ice in Cochrane then with the Airdrie Lightning, to becoming a standout player at Edge School and eventually the University of Wisconsin, Wozniewicz has shown relentless drive and passion for the game.

57's slowed in Fort McMurray

The bats cooled down a bit as the Swift Current 57's dropped their first of a six-game Alberta road swing.

They had 8 hits and 10 runners left on base in a 4-2 loss to Fort McMurray.

Adam Korte went 8 strong innings allowing 3 earned runs, striking out 8 and walking 3 in a losing cause.

Wilmer Henriquez went 3 for 5 with both RBIs for Swift Current.

Silas Hilton was 2 for 5 with a run scored.

The 57's get another crack at Fort McMurray tonight.

Sports Round-Up: Wednesday, June 25

It was a busy night in the Western Canadian Baseball League. The Moose Jaw Miller Express fell to the Gulls in Sylvan Lake 1–9 yesterday. The Millers return to Gulls Stadium for game two of their series this evening at 7.

Last night, the Saskatoon Berries went 10–4 over the Regina Red Sox, and the Swift Current 57's fell 4–2 to Fort MacMurray.

Over to Rambler Park fastball, the Moose Jaw Giants will be in action this evening, taking on the Highway 22 Cowboys, and the Moose Jaw Canadians battle the Earl Grey Rockets in the late game.

Heck's sacrifice fly gives Beavers walk-off win over Medicine Hat

In a tight game that went down to the wire, the Weyburn Beavers edged out the visiting Medicine Hat Mavericks 3-2 in walk-off fashion Tuesday night at Tom Laing Park. 

Ian Heck starred on both sides of the ball, turning in six dominant innings on the mound and later driving in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth. Heck struck out 10 and allowed just one unearned run, holding the Mavericks in check and giving his team a chance to come back late. 

Estevan swimmers collect medals despite tough weather and schedule

The Estevan Golden Eels had a successful and challenging weekend competing in back-to-back swim meets in Swift Current and Regina.

At the Swift Current meet, despite rainy weather, the team delivered strong performances across multiple events. Highlights included:

  • Adalyn Christopherson won first place in the Girls 13-14 Meter Medley Relay with a time of 1:24.62 and second place in the 100 Meter Free Relay.

  • Zalia Carlson placed second in the Girls 7-8 25 Meter Free and third in the 50 Meter Free.
