U13 AAA Eastman Wildcats show well at provincials, looking for big things at Western's

Hosting the U13 AAA provincials this past weekend, the Eastman Wildcats played exceptional ball, leading to finishing second, and punching their ticket to the Western's coming up in Abbotsford, British Columbia in August.

"It was a really good week of ball," coach Jason Plett explains. "We started on Thursday with our round robin play, and the whole tournament, our girls played the best ball they've played all season long. It was a lot of fun to watch."

Friends, teammates and now champions, the U17 Morden Eagles complete special season

There is a lot to be proud of when it comes to the U17 Morden Eagles soccer team, and from wins, to laughs, to memories, it all led to a championship run that they wont ever forget.

"It feels pretty good," star player Kapri Curry says with a smile about being a champion. "We definitely are pretty excited."

Fauser makes Saskatchewan baseball Summer Games team

Shaunavon's Mason Fauser is headed to The Rock.

He's been chosen to play baseball for Team Saskatchewan at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland.

"Worked quite hard throughout the summer to make the team," Fauser said. "It means a lot."

It's the third time Fauser has been able to represent Saskatchewan in national baseball competition.

"It means more than you know," he said. "It's very special being able to represent Team Saskatchewan at the national level."

Ayalas lead the way for 57's in Medicine Hat

It was the Ayala brothers show in Medicine Hat last night.

Jose Ayala went 3 for 5 with a home run, 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored, while Luis Ayala went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored in a 12-6 Swift Current 57's victory over the Mavericks.

Silas Hilton went 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored for Swift Current.

Jaylen Gutierrez allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings of work to get the win.

Swift Current has now won two of their last three games.

The 57's are back home to host the Saskatoon Berries tonight.

More southwest softball provincial medals

The Swift Current Sonic took home a silver from the U15 B South softball provincials in Estevan over the weekend.

They beat the Moose Jaw Ice 10-0, the Storm Twisters 19-9, and lose 7-3 to Southwest in round robin play.

Swift Current then beat Yorkton 16-8 in the semifinal before falling 7-3 to Moose Jaw in the gold medal game.

The U13 Sonic also picked up a medal, winning bronze at U13 B South provincials in Regina.

They beat Moose Jaw 14-10, lost 20-0 to White Butte, and topped the Regina Royals 13-12 in round robin action.

Minor football registration deadline inches closer

Kinsmen Moose Jaw Minor Football (KMJMF) is reminding young football players that their registration is almost closed.

Boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 13 need to be registered before the August 1 deadline. There are three age groups for the boys in U10, U12, and U14. While the Lady Outlaw is for girls between 11 and 13.

"We're sitting at about 171 kids right now, and we usually finish about 230. So we got a pretty good push here. In the last two weeks, a lot of people sign up late," said the president of KMJMF, Bryan Boys.
