Harv Schroeder joins In the Mayor's Chair for the first time

After being officially sworn into office Tuesday as Altona's new Mayor, Harv Schroeder stopped by the studio Wednesday for his first appearance on In the Mayor's Chair on CFAM Radio 950. Morning Show Co-Host Chris Sumner asked him to share a little about himself, and the Mayor also touched on the annual transition to the winter compost pick-up schedule, as well as a few upcoming events in town.

HSD Trustees begin their four-year term on Tuesday

One week after the 2022 Municipal Elections it’s back to work for councils and school boards across the southeast.  

In the Hanover School Division there were 4 incumbents re-elected and 5 challengers are now also at the board table.  

In Ward 1 west, serving the residents of Niverville, Bothwell, Kleefeld and Crystal Springs are acclaimed and new to the HSD as Trustees Jeff Friesen and Dallas Wiebe.  

Niverville Mayor excited to start a new term

With the Municipal Election now several days behind us, Town Councils and School Boards are getting organized for the next four-year term, as it is for the mayor of the town of Niverville.  

Myron Dyck was acclaimed as Mayor and with the results of the election will be working together with a fairly new council.  

After all the ballots were counted, incumbent Nathan Dueck came out on top with 742 votes, followed by newcomer, Bill Fast with 578, incumbent Chris Wiebe with 554 votes, and a close fourth was another newcomer, Meghan Beasant with 547 votes 

Poirier: Council looking at new priorities over 4-year term

Ahead of being sworn into his new position as the ninth Mayor of Kenora – Andrew Poirier says he’s taking a look at Kenora Council’s priorities for the next four years.

The former Manager of Operational Services for the Kenora Catholic District School Board, who has served three terms as a City Councillor in Kenora and won October 24’s election with 64 per cent of the community’s votes, says Council’s direction will include input from every member at the table.

Melillo congratulates new Mayors, Councillors in NWO

Kenora MP Eric Melillo says he’s looking forward to northwestern Ontario’s new Mayors and Councillors once they’re sworn into their positions next month.

“I do want to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone who was elected in Kenora and throughout the region,” said Melillo, in an interview with the Q Morning Show.

“I look forward to working together with everyone to see our region thrive. I want to thank everyone who put their names forward to run. I know it’s no easy task, but it’s an important one. I’m thankful for everyone who stepped up.”

Winkler Mayor and city councilors take Oath of Office

Newly elected Winkler Mayor Henry Siemens, along with the community's newly elected city councilors were officially sworn into public office at Winkler City Hall on Thursday. An Oath of Office ceremony was held one day after municipal and school board elections were held across Manitoba.

Henry Siemens beat out Karl Krebs, the only other candidate to run for mayor in Winkler in Wednesday's election.

Three incumbents return for another term in Ritchot

Residents of Ritchot woke up Thursday morning with a new look council.

That is because 40 per cent of council was defeated in Wednesday's election. In Ward Two, Jason Bodnarchuk defeated Ron Mamchuk, while in Ward Three, Joel Lemoine ousted Curtis Claydon. Back for another term are three incumbents who were all acclaimed, including Mayor Chris Ewen, Ward One Councillor Shane Pelletier and Ward Four Councillor Janine Boulanger.

Ewen says in Ward Two, he could sense for the last year that residents of St. Adolphe were seeking change.
