Terriers looking for flurry of goals tonight against Blizzard

The Portage Terriers are back on home ice tonight for the first in a set of back-to-back games.

The Dogs are taking on the OCN Blizzard tonight and tomorrow. These two teams have only met once so far this season but the game was cut short in overtime due to a catastrophic injury.

The scouting report indicates OCN is a very physical team, according to goaltender Bailey Montieth.

Terriers make a flurry of trades on December 1st deadline day

The Portage Terriers added veteran experience to their roster yesterday ahead of the CJHL’s Dec.1 cutdown deadline. All teams needed to be down to a maximum of 25 players or less by 5 p.m. Teams are now limited in their ability to add and trade players until the final January 10th deadline when rosters need to be at 23 players.

The Terriers have traded D Tyler Dodgson (04) and F Brandon Funk (05) to the Winnipeg Blues along with future considerations for F Jack Kaiser (02) and D Matt McLeod (02). Other moves included:

Lacquette becomes two time Defenceman of the Month winner

Portage Terriers' leading-scorer, Hayden Lacquette, is the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Defenceman of the Month. Lacquette is being recognized for his performance in November, where he scored four goals and dished out nine assists over the course of nine games.

The Defenceman of the Month award has been dominated by the Terriers this season as Lacquette has now won it twice and Brandon McCartney was the only other recipient so far this season.

Terriers on their way to Wayway

The Portage Terriers are back on the road tonight as they travel to Waywayseecappo for a meeting with the Wolverines. The Dogs currently lead the season series 2-1. These contests have been high scoring as at least one team has reached the five-goal mark in each game.

Terriers make it a perfect weekend with two wins

The Portage Terriers looked strong from start to finish beating the Winnipeg Blues 4-1 on Sunday night. The Terriers outshot the Blues 37-14.

Portage started red hot, pouring the pressure on Winnipeg goalie Brock Moroz. The Blues netminder held his team in the game early making multiple point-blank saves on Terrier forwards. Eventually, Portage was able to solve him when Brandon Funk tipped a Hayden Lacquette point shot with five minutes to go in the first period.

Terriers kick off two-game road trip tonight

The Portage Terriers are looking to start up another win streak tonight in Winnipeg. The Dogs are hitting the road for their next two games, starting with a matchup against the Blues.

The Dogs are coming off a convincing 6-2 win over the Niverville Nighthawks, where they managed to double the Nighthawks shot total. Forward Karson Kings says the key to sustaining their success will be to play as a unit for all 60 minutes.

"I think just connected as a team and not getting down on each other is important," says King. "(We have to) stay positive throughout the whole year."

Terriers handle business against Nighthawks

The Portage Terriers are back to their winning ways. The Dogs redeemed themselves tonight against the Niverville Nighthawks, defeating them 6-2. Portage now leads the season series 2-1 after suffering their first home loss of the year to Niverville.

The Terriers' leading scoring got the ball rolling in this one. Hayden Lacquette found the back of the net just four minutes into the first period and dished out an assist 25 seconds later on a goal scored by Kaden Kohle to give the Terriers the early two-goal lead.
