A judge has denied an application to quash a review of a proposed Alberta referendum question on separation.
Court of King's Bench Justice Colin Feasby says it will benefit democracy to have a full hearing on the constitutionality of the question.
Alberta's chief electoral officer, Gordon McClure, referred the question to court last month so a judge could determine whether it violates the Constitution, including treaty rights.
The group that submitted the question applied to have the referral quashed.

Update: Traffic backing up amid reports of earlier collision east of Didsbury
Traffic slowed to a crawl on the QEII northbound east of Didsbury on Thursday morning following an earlier collision, though the scene has since been cleared.
The crash appeared to have occurred just before the intersection of Highway 582 and the QEII. Eyewitnesses said the collision involved a semi-truck and trailer that had overturned onto its side.
Motorists were advised to use caution while travelling northbound on the QEII.

Grain Millers, a Minnesota based company, is expanding its operations in Western Canada.
The company operates an oat processing facility at Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and has been leasing a small flax processing facility in Saskatoon.
