Two Lotto 6/49 tickets in Alberta are each worth $2.5 million after the Classic Draw on July 2, 2025.

One winning ticket was purchased in Edmonton, but the other was bought somewhere outside Calgary and Edmonton—leaving room for some local speculation. Could Airdrie be home to one of the lucky winners? It’s anyone’s guess.

The winning numbers on both tickets were: 6, 25, 27, 34, 38, 49. (Exact match only).

Banff National Park: Warning issued as black bear exhibits curious behaviour

Special caution is recommended while travelling or camping in the Rampart Creek area in Banff National Park due to a black bear frequenting the area and exhibiting curious behaviour, including close approaches to people and campsites.

Visitors are advised to store all food, garbage, and items with odours inside vehicles or in secure storage lockers provided in the campground. Fire pits should not be used to dispose of garbage or liquids. All food and garbage must be disposed of in a proper receptacle.

Alberta reaches settlement with two coal companies suing over policy flip-flop

Two coal companies suing Alberta's government over its mining policy flip-flop say they've reached a settlement agreement with the province.

Notices published online by Evolve Power and Atrum Coal dated last month say details are confidential, and no dollar figures are disclosed.

Atrum, in its notice, said its agreement is definitive, though Evolve's notice says the terms of its own settlement are being finalized.

Update: Banff town officials: "Power outage affecting all of the town of Banff and to Lake Louise"

Power has been restored to the Town of Banff, Lake Louise and Sunshine Village after an earlier outage. Fortis Alberta, working with AltaLink, had been addressing the issue. FortisAlberta, working with AltaLink, determined that the cause was an overhead powerline contact.

Applied research associations receive $3.2 million in provincial funding

One-time grant from Alberta government to help applied research associations upgrade equipment, facilities and infrastructure

Alberta’s government has provided a one-time grant of $3.2 million to 12 applied research associations across the province.

This capital funding will enable the research associations to upgrade equipment, facilities and infrastructure.

With the additional funding, the research associations will be able to address pressing capital equipment issues.
