Lifeguards and firefighters prepare to face off in friendly competition
Swift Current’s lifeguards and firefighters are set to go head-to-head this weekend in a fun-filled community event at Fairview Pool.
Representatives from both groups joined the Country 94.1 Morning Show earlier this week to preview the competition. From the City of Swift Current, lifeguards Daisy Dick and Megan Chisholm were joined by firefighter Bailey Habscheid to talk about the showdown.

King of the Corn: Final laps of the season at Deadhorse Creek Speedway
The roar of engines, the smell of dirt, and the excitement of side-by-side racing return to the Pembina Valley tonight and Saturday as Deadhorse Creek Speedway hosts the final races of the season. With food trucks, family fun, live music, and a pit full of cars ready to battle it out on the west-of-Morden oval, it is the last chance this year to experience the thrill of dirt racing under the lights.
Races start at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 22 and 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23. The Beerjammers will be playing both nights, bringing music to the mix alongside the roar of the cars.
Our second annual Charity BBQ gets ready to hit Strathmore
Join us this week on Thursday for a Charity BBQ!
The BBQ will be held down at Strathmore Motor Products, running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Les Smith, the sales manager at Strathmore Motor Products, explains why they became involved.
"Strathmore Motor Products likes being a part of our community, and we've been here coming up on our 50th anniversary, and we've just always wanted to be a part of our community and give back. Our community supports us."
All donations from the Charity BBQ will be going to a local organization, Project Hope.
