Louis Cherpin, the fire chief at the RM of Swift Current Fire Department, stopped by the Country 94.1 Morning Show powered by Canadian Tire this morning to talk about their 30th Anniversary celebration, taking place this Saturday, October 5th from 11 am - 3 pm at the RM of Swift Current! He detailed all the awesome things that will be taking place, and there quite literally is something for everyone(including food)! *audio clip below*

Now is the time to get your 50/50 for Change tickets!

It's the second day of the 2024 50/50 for Change lottery, and it's off to a good start with a total prize pool of $340 after the first day, and that number will surely grow as we get closer to the grand prize draw.

Half of the 50/50 pot will go to one lucky winner and the other half will go to the SaskAbilities Swift Current Branch to support the recreation programs they offer to their clients, including the summer fun program, SLYP-Out and Camp Easter Seals.

Rotary’s veggie sale continues tradition of supporting Portage’s local projects

One of the Rotary Club of Portage la Prairie's largest fundraising efforts is underway.

The annual Rotary Veggie Sale starts on October 2, and continues through October 5. Press Relations Director Preston Meier says it's been a longstanding tradition for the club, as this is the 46th veggie sale the club has put on, not missing a year in the process.

You can bet more than a few provincial election candidates have seen the results. Perhaps some of them will make reference to them in the coming days and weeks.

The provincial election campaign is officially underway this week. We'll go to the polls Monday, October 28th.

Hundreds of Saskatchewanians took some time and took part in our election poll last month on our local news websites.

We simply wanted to know what the top issues are in our province and what issues you believe are being ignored.

Local artists and work highlighted at Gallery's Members Show and Sale

A fall tradition is back at the Humboldt and District Gallery with the return of the Gallery Members’ Show and Sale. The sale opened on October 1 and it will run until November 1. 

The show is a demonstration of the incredible talents of Humboldt and District Gallery Members. There are 43 artists participating, and 100 pieces of artwork displayed in a wide variety of mediums including painting, photography, ceramics, quilting, and mixed media works. Each piece in the exhibit is for sale.

We are rolling into one of the most beautiful times of the year. The leaves are changing quickly, and the colors are fantastic. The scenery won't last long, one or two chilly nights and they'll all be on the ground.

Team Canada adds a Cochranite for Pokémon World Cup

One Cochrane man is on a mission to be the very best, like no one ever was.

Jacob Wilkins has joined Team Canada for the World Cup of Pokémon VGC. The competition is set to feature over 700 players from 60 countries around the world.

“This is the fourth year they've done the World Cup of Pokémon,” says Wilkins. “Each country is able to select a team of up to 12 players that are the best Pokémon players in their country.”

Festival of Frights promises to share more scares

The annual scare fest that’s become a spooky season specialty at the Humboldt Vintage Club is back full of even further frights. The Festival of Frights crew is busy prepping the area’s premier haunted house experience. The show kicks off Saturday, October 12, with performances on Friday and Saturday, October 18 and 19, and again the following weekend on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 24 – 26.
