Siloam CEO says good start but more needed, after Winnipeg commits to affordable housing
The CEO of Siloam Mission in Winnipeg is weighing in on the recent announcement made by the city regarding increasing affordable housing over the next 3 years.
The Government of Canada and the City of Winnipeg recently announced $25 million in funding which will provide over 1,000 new housing units to the city, including 597 affordable units.

It's an issue Manitoba has dealt with at numerous spots along the Trans-Canada highway. Some see more accidents than others and the volume of traffic is often coincides with number of collisions and close calls.
While some are uncontrolled and have stop signs only for those entering the main thoroughfare, medians can vary in size, some have turning lanes, some have roundabouts while others have stop lights or an overpass.

Town of Lampman hosting 'Riders on the Road' event this Saturday
The Town of Lampman was chosen to host a party this Saturday for Game Day - the Riders on the Road presented by McDougall Auctioneers.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be in Edmonton to face the Elks at 5 p.m., which will be aired on the big screen in the Lampman Rink.
Teresa Dyck with the Town of Lampman said the free event will kick off with a parade on the north side of Main Street at 4 p.m., ending up at the rink.

Market from the Farm celebrates successful summer season, plans for future events
Weyburn's Market from the Farm wrapped up its summer season with a successful final market this past Saturday, drawing twice the number of attendees compared to previous events. Organizer Alissa Bjorn expressed her heartfelt thanks to the community for their support throughout the summer.
"We were extremely excited to have twice the number of people coming out and enjoying the flowers, fresh air, weather, and the vendors."
The Market featured many first-time vendors, all thrilled with their experience.
Together we give: local youth rally for FCC "Drive Away Hunger" campaign
Local youth groups in the Pembina Valley are coming together for the FCC Drive Away Hunger Campaign, collecting food donations to support families facing food insecurity. Multiple churches are participating, highlighting the power of community action, especially ahead of Thanksgiving.
Zeb Klassen, a youth participant from Bethel Church, expressed his appreciation for the initiative: “It’s comforting to know there are people like our youth pastors who are here for us and the community.”
Moose Jaw Legion is hosting a lunch for veterans
All Military, RCMP & Police Veterans and their spouse or Signficant other is invited to attend a free lunch and social gathering at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 59 in Moose Jaw.
The lunch is being held on October 10 to commemorate Veterans and their Families, and the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
