Perfect weather a packed park: Nickle Lake Day 2025
Nickle Lake Day at Nickle Lake Regional Park kicked off today with a free pancake breakfast, followed by activities for kids at 10 a.m. in the Beaver Den, with the Weyburn Rowing Club's Beach Sprints on the beach. The Soo Line Cruisers held a Car Show, and the Nickle Lake Market featured many favourite vendors.
Musical performances began at 1:30 with Karissa Hoffart taking the stage, and Kelly Gill and the Hired Guns playing Saturday evening.
'True North' wilderness-themed day camp coming to The Lighthouse
The Lighthouse Church in Weyburn will host 'True North: Trusting Jesus in a Wild World', a three-day camp in August for children ages five to 12.
"This is a free event, and we do ask parents to register their kids so we know how many to expect," shared Susan Adderley.
"We've been busy planning a fun, action-packed, guaranteed fun-filled three days for all the kids at the camp. Our events include games, music, dance, drama, talent show, crafts, scavenger hunts, water fights, snacks, Bible stories, movies, just to name a few."

Cupcake fundraiser supporting PAWS
A sweet initiative is underway at Homestead Co-op this weekend, combining cupcakes and compassion to help animals in need.
Till August 3, Homestead Co-op is running a special fundraiser in support of the Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The promotion features a six-pack of vanilla cupcakes for just $5.00, with $1.00 from every sale donated directly to PAWS. Alongside the cupcakes, customers will also find displays of pet food, which can be purchased and donated on-site.

Fetch a Friend - Midnight
Momma Midnight, a rescue cat from Wilkie, Sask., is hoping to find a loving home after raising her litter in safety at KC Rescue.
Midnight was found with her kittens just in time to ensure the family had a secure place to stay. Staff at KC Rescue say she was timid at first, adjusting to a new environment while caring for her first litter.
Now, she proudly shows off her kittens and has become very affectionate with people.
Celebrate Heritage Day weekend at the GP Museum
The City of Grande Prairie invites residents and visitors to come together in celebration of Grande Prairie’s history, traditions and community spirit at the City’s annual Heritage Day event on Saturday, August 2 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Museum’s Heritage Village.

This week’s Spike & Friends Pet Services INC. Adorable Adoptables featured two irresistible kittens from the Moose Jaw Humane Society: Macaroni and Greg from the Moose Jaw Humane Society (MJHS).
The playful pair, who’ve become fast friends despite coming from different litters. Macaroni, a tortoiseshell beauty, was the only kitten in her litter, while Greg, a sleek black kitten, arrived solo and quickly bonded with his new buddy.
