Crop Report May 6-12

The Ministry of Agriculture has released the latest Crop Report for the province between May 6 to May 12. 

Throughout the entire province, 49 per cent of the crop has been seeded with the southwest region leading the way with 76 per cent completed.  

SHA warns of additional measles exposure risks in six communities

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is warning residents of several measles exposure risks across the province.

Affected communities include Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, Gravelbourg, Assiniboia, Outlook and Ponteix.

The SHA listed a series of locations, days, and times, and stated that if you were present for any of them, you should monitor for symptoms for the next 21 days. The list of impacted businesses is below.

Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League is back

The Richardson Pioneer Men’s Fastball League is back for another season. Richardson Pioneer Wadena along with five original league teams (Foam Lake Merchants, Fishing Lae Cubs, Wynyard Jr. Blues, Rosebud Royals and Rosebud Jr. Royals) join the Rhein Rockets. Teams will all play as part of a home and home schedule before heading into playoffs from July 19-20. 

Groundbreaking complete for new LeRoy Daycare

The LeRoy Daycare Inc. Is celebrating the ground clearing for its new and expanded facility on Aspen Street in LeRoy. A combination of circumstances and the need for additional spaces required the daycare to start with a ground up facility after its initial opening in 2019.

Humboldt Golf Club charts course ahead at Annual General Meeting

On Tuesday night, the Humboldt Golf Club (HGC) held their Annual General Meeting as they looked back on their numbers and previewed on is shaping up to be an exciting year at the course. 

A key event for the HGC’s schedule in 2025 will be the Saskatchewan Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships in Humboldt from July 15-18.  

Monthly Protective Services report

During Monday’s Humboldt City Council’s Executive Meeting, the monthly Protective Services report was discussed.  

With the snow melting in April, that led to more people outside moving around and according to the Community Safety Officer’s report, more traffic complaints.  

There have been several complaints regarding vehicles located at Water Ridge Park until 2-3 am.

City gearing for further growth with housing needs and demands study

The need for additional housing remains foremost on the minds of many area communities and RMs. Grants are available from a variety of sources including the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). To access those grants, communities must have completed a Housing Needs and Demand Study to validate their need and the use for funding.
