CAA Saskatchewan begin 2025 worst road campaign

If there’s a road that you think is in poor condition, CAA Saskatchewan wants to hear from you. 

Once again, CAA Saskatchewan has launched their Worst Roads Campaign.  

Over the next four weeks, individuals are encouraged to submit their nomination for the that they feel are a safety concern for motorists.  

Between April 8-29, you can nominate and vote for the worst road.  

Humboldt Watrous MLA writes apology for accusing federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh of being 'a terrorist'

Humboldt Watrous MLA Racquel Hilbert issued an apology on Wednesday for a statement she made in the legislature calling the federal New Democratic Party leader ‘a terrorist.’ 

Hilbert made the comment during a debate on the provincial economy and the efforts of the Sask Party government to secure trade agreements with international partners.  

Saskatchewan government launches campaign to recruit physicians from the United States

The Saskatchewan government alongside the Saskatchewan Healthcare Recruitment Agency (SHRA) have launched a digital campaign aimed at recruiting physicians from the United States to consider working in Saskatchewan.  

Included inside of the pitch are current career opportunities, upcoming physician-focused information webinars and the promotion of benefits including such as competitive compensation, lower cost of living, work/life balance and stability offered in the province. 

In Alberta, Carney follows Poilievre in pledging to speed up resource projects

Liberal Leader Mark Carney took his promise of making Canada an "energy superpower" to the heart of Canada's oil industry Wednesday, becoming the second party leader in three days to promise to speed up the review process to greenlight major national energy projects.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre made a one-project, one-review promise at a campaign stop in northwest British Columbia on Monday. Both parties are trying to convince Canadians they can ditch Canada's reputation as a place where big projects take far too long to get built.

Conexus, Synergy, Cornerstone credit unions move closer to merger with recommendation

Conexus Credit Union is moving one step closer in its proposed merger with Cornerstone and Synergy Credit Unions, potentially forming the largest credit union in the province.  

The three credit unions are recommending the merger to their members in a vote that is upcoming in June. A joint statement issued by the trio states that by working together, the new amalgamated credit union will create a stronger, more resilient credit union that remains member-focused and upholds their shared values.  

SIRT investigates RCMP collision with pedestrian on Kawacatoose First Nation

Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has been called into to undertake an investigation involving an RCMP vehicle that struck and injured a pedestrian on a grid road on the Kawacatoose First Nation. 

A release from the RCMP states that on April 8, 2025, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Punnichy RCMP received a firearms-related call for service on the Kawacatoose First Nation.  

Rhythm returns as the 27th edition of the Onstage Dance Festival begins on Thursday

A springtime staple in Humboldt returns on Thursday. 

The Onstage Dance Festival returns with its 27th edition at Jubilee Hall.  

President Krissi Barnes says this year’s event will be the biggest one for the festival since the COVID pandemic as 700 dancers from different dance studios will be participating.
