Lanigan & District Waterpark makes waves in accessibility

 

One final piece of equipment will be added to the Lanigan & District Waterpark this week with the installation of the Water Accessible Wheelchair.  

Long Lake Insurance will be sponsoring the Water Accessible Wheelchair. 

To help commemorate the completion of the waterpark’s equipment, there will be a pool party on Thursday afternoon which will include free public swimming throughout the afternoon.  

Red minivan wanted in red wagon heist

Humboldt RCMP are hoping for information in a theft case dating back to May.

On May 22, 2025, The Humboldt RCMP received a complaint of a theft of a red wagon from a business located on the 2000 block of 8th Avenue in Humboldt. Video surveillance captured a subject of interest who had loaded the wagon it into a red minivan. The Humboldt RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this individual.

RCMP investigating cases of theft and damage in Lake Lenore and Middle Lake

Humboldt RCMP seeks the public's help in identifying those linked to a pair of incidents. 


On July 28, 2025, the Humboldt RCMP received two complaints: the first complaint a theft of fuel and damage to truck at a business in Lake Lenore and the second complaint of damage to a grain auger and theft of fuel.

Video surveillance captured a vehicle and persons of interest in these incidents.

Funding shortfall threatens future of Quill Lakes Watershed Association

The Quill Lakes Watershed Association (QLWA) is in danger of dissolving operations due to a lack of commitment from the provincial government.  

Formed by a group of stakeholders comprised of local landowners and communities following the wide spreading of flooding that occurred in the Quill Lakes and surrounding area between 2005-2017.  

Sask NDP alarmed about data showing Saskatchewan at the national bottom for childcare spaces

Saskatchewan’s New Democrats have looked at the latest data published by the non-profit organization Childcare Resource and Research Unit (CRRU), and they are not happy about what the numbers show. 

In a release on August 5, the NDP says those numbers show Saskatchewan as having the fewest childcare spaces in Canada, amounting to a space for only 21 per cent of Saskatchewan children aged 0-5. Taking into account children 0 to 12 years of age, the availability drops to 12 per cent.  

Prime Minister Mark Carney announces support measures for softwood lumber industry

The federal government is setting up a safety net of loans, product-development grants and market diversification plans for Canada’s softwood lumber industry in an effort to shield it from the worst of American duties and fees.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the plan Tuesday, promising $700 million in loan guarantees to address what he called "immediate pressures" and $500 million for long-term supports to help companies diversify export markets and develop their products. 

Carney also promised that future projects will "prioritize" Canadian lumber.
